National Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Rushab Mehta

Learning coding gives a lot of mental breaks or mental shutdowns and in a city like Mumbai where there’s no peace, it’s tough to concentrate. I was getting admissions in top ranked NITs but still I chose this after reading one of the reviews and today here I am writing review based on my experiences. The college is located in the lap of Himalayas. Therefore, I won’t waste my words describing the beauty of the campus as it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful campuses you will see. Life was so cheerful here that learning became easy and because it is NIT, the education department was taken care of quite well. Even the faculty were one of the best in the nation and shall I dare writing about placements? My aim of writing this review is to make you all fall in love with this college as I am still possessed by this college and I hope it stays forever.

I was used to bunking classes and all but at NITH don’t you dare even dream of something like that. I have seen students being thrown out of the colleges who took it rather too casually. So attendance is compulsory and practicals. I was happy doing three projects a year but now it was doubled as either you do one project of some magnitude or keep on doing until the HOD thinks about your efforts and gives you some leeway. So those who are fond of doing projects and internship with top IT firms then go nowhere but join NITH.

Unlike faculties who have been here for a long time, there were some faculties roped in of immediate levels as the industry has gloomed so fast that technology has taken the world a generation far. The mix of immediate and experienced faculty was such that learning under them was more of a fun than pain. The faculties over here meant business as they gave their every bit of skin into it to make some serious engineers who can serve the nation. When the mind is clear and the thought process and message that they conveyed was correct, who will not fall in love with such guiding faculty.

If 100% placement is a myth then so be it, as NITH had a 100% placement record. Those who didn’t wished a job was their part but those who wished had some of the best jobs from the campus. All the big IT gun companies like Wipro, Microsoft, IBM, and Infosys have partnered with college from a long time. They come every year along with 30-40 small and medium sized firms. M. Tech from NITH means doubling the package that you can get after doing graduation. So, I leave the figure of math to you as placements at NITH were a dream.

The wish of staying at a hostel ended at NITH. There are many hostels divided accordingly as juniors and seniors were not allowed to stay in the same hostel due to some past history. The rooms were amazing and the view from those windows during the dusk is still in my eyes. Even if you are not a singer the ground stairs of hostel building during chilly winter evenings will bring out the singer in you. There was a curfew time for entering the college but you can roam inside the campus till late night. So complete freedom with some exquisite Himachali cuisines made my hostel life one of the most memorable moments of my life.

I had to think for at least ten minutes as there’s so much inside the campus that I got confused where I begin from. I will start with the sunset view from the main grounds where we used to play cricket or football whenever we got some time off studies. The campus may look like a forest as Deodars and Pine trees have surrounded the entire college. The campus used to blossom every day with fresh flowers at the gardens of the campus. The administration building always stood tall as we mostly stayed away from it. Lastly, I would like to mention about the beautiful auditoriums as there were three of those and used accordingly as per the events.

The best part of campus life was calling our seniors as Chachus, and classmates as Oh Yaara. These were the most common words that are heard in and around the campus. There are many things that I learned at the campus like the word ‘Scene’. It definitely had over a dozen meaning and students can use this word in any context. Last but not the least, the fest Hill’ffair. There’s no beating to a great campus life that NITH offer to its students.
