UEM is the latest college established in 2015, we were the second batch of the college. To get the admission at UEM, the entrance process is very simple, 60% of 10+2 score and a valid rank in the JEE/ WBJEE/IEMJEE exam. UEM is famous for its placement record. Their placement percentage is above 90%. The infrastructure is good and laced with advanced technology. There may be negative reviews about UEM Kolkata, but honestly I think we should be more focused on what they are offering, "good education" and other things? It doesn't matter whether the college is good or bad but what matters is the things you take from it. It's up to you.

As an autonomous college, UEM has its own syllabus, somewhat similar to other colleges but the difference is it's not updated. The syllabus might be harder than other colleges and have some extra subjects too. You have to study extra hours to complete the whole syllabus or even to get good marks. In my opinion, college authorities should really look into updating the syllabus. Other curriculum activities like workshops, group discussion, and coding competition. Monthly tests are conducted for students to keep up with their huge syllabus. You cannot bunk your classes because attendance more than 80% is necessary and the staff directly calls.

The faculties are very much friendly. Almost all of them have PhD degrees. All of them are professional teachers, have attended IIT's and are very knowledgeable. Since the IEM is an autonomous college, it has its own subject, ESP. Most of them who are teachers at IEM also teach at UEM. Everyone has a different teaching style and you won't like everyone's teaching. Faculties strictly monitor if the students are following the rules of the college and if not then the punishment is ready. You may feel like you're going to school once again.

During the years of my degree, there was always a fear in some corner of my mind about my placement and having a good job. I witnessed myself how my seniors landed their today's job in one of the companies that came to college recruitment. That very much encouraged me to perform better and have confidence in myself. The college is tied up with many reputed companies and hence it assures at least 1 to 2 jobs per candidate. The record for placements is 100%. I didn't believe myself when I got recruited in one of the top companies. If you think that you'll choose UEM then placement is guaranteed then you're misunderstood. It's up to you, placement, studies; it's all up to you. No one will give you a ready-made job unless and until you earn it.

College doesn't have a hostel inside the campus. Some floors of a building in the college area are used as a hostel. Girls' hostel is separate from the boys' hostel and it is a bit far from the college. Wi-Fi is available in both the hostels also. The hostel mess serves good food at least better than the college canteen. Only girls' hostels have strict rules and you need to take permission to visit. Boys' hostel does not have any such rules. Also the area around the boys' hostel is also not very decent. The market is far away from the college. You have to travel a long distance to buy anything.

The UEM building is really huge. It is fully digitalized. All classrooms are air conditioned and have projectors. Canteen is also there on the college campus. It is kept hygienic, but the food there doesn't taste so good, just average. The best part about UEM infrastructure is its digital library. UEM library has computers as well for students to work on their projects, and to help in their research and studies. Free Wi-Fi is made available throughout the campus. For those who like sports, there is a huge playground including a basketball court. The campus is kept clean so that it gives positive vibes.

The rules at UEM are strict; many students complain that it feels like being in jail. The college gate closes at sharp 9 am, after that no student is allowed to come inside the campus. There is a strict dress code. No one can leave the campus within college hours. 80% attendance is necessary and what not. The rules are strict as hell but somewhere we all know this is just to maintain a proper discipline and not punishment. At the end of the day, people will tell you many things but it is you who have to decide your path.
