AMU Aligarh: Fee Structure and Scholarships

My experience at Aligarh Muslim University is quite good and full of learning. The university is quite good in all the fields whether its reputation, rankings and infrastructure. It has experienced teachers and a good campus where students come from different backgrounds unite. What make AMU special is its friendly environment and overall development. Those who want to learn and grow then this university is the best place for you.

I chose B.Sc (Hons.) Mathematics because I enjoy solving Mathematical problems and tackling challenges since my school. The admission required clearing the entrance test which is held in the college and the eligibility was 12th grade completion with good marks in Mathematics. It provides a special quota for Muslim students, offering them priority in admissions as per university norms. The admission process includes s filling out an online form, taking the test and then attending counseling. Exams are held twice in a year along with the internal assessments. The course builds the problem solving as well as logical thinking and prepare us well to tackle real life challenges.

My program has an annual tuition of Rs. 7,600 along with additional charges for admission registration, examination fees, etc. Merit based scholarships are available in the institution with amount ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000 annually. These initiatives help economically weaker students.

The teachers of my course at AMU Aligarh are very educated and humble. Many teachers have written their own books. They also teach us from these books, which makes learning so much easy and good. While giving lectures, they usually use blackboards but sometimes take sessions on google meet (happened during pandemic). Talking about the ratio between teachers and students, it is quite good and each student gets personal attention too. Teachers are mostly friendly in nature. They clear our doubts quickly with proper explanation.

Talking about placement scenario, so most of the students opt for higher studies, some enters into the teaching line while some goes in corporate roles. The university’s placement cell offers pre-placement talks and internships with around 50% of students securing placements. The highest package offered during our time was Rs. 6,00,000 per annum and the lowest package was Rs. 3,50,000 per annum.

University provides separate hostels for boys and girls each with essentials amenities like study table, chair, almirah etc. Boy’s hostels are Aftab Hall, Sir Syed Hall, Mumtaz House, etc. For girl’s prominent hostel includes Begum Sultan Jahan Hall, etc. Talking about mess food, so meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a variety of options. The monthly dining fee is around Rs. 1,500. For boys, the entry timing is generally until 10:30 PM and for girls it is 9:30 PM (except some emergency calls).

University is spread in approximately 470 acres of land, featuring well-structured academic blocks and departments with classrooms equipped with air conditioners and projectors. There is a ‘Maulana Azad Library’, which is the central hub for research and study housing an extensive collection. There's a best facilities for sports too. We get almost every game here with proper grounds for football, hockey, football, etc. It provides comprehensive medical services to their students and staff. The campus also includes big auditorium. Overall, it is perfect place for both learning and personal growth.

Campus life is lively and fun. The students are friendly, come from different states and backgrounds. Teachers are too humble and supportive. There's are many clubs for activities like sports, cultural, and technology. The lush green campus attracts everyone's attention. Various fests regularly happen in the campus. One of the biggest fest is ‘Sir Syed Day’( Founder of Aligarh Muslim University). Overall, my experience is too good with lots of opportunities to learn and grow.
