I didn’t look beyond the B-Schools of Kolkata because the city of joy is one of the best when it comes to B-Schools. The likes of IIM-K, IEM, NSHM, CBS, and others have fully aided the students with cool placements and cool studies to look no further for PGDM or the MBA course. It’s a newer college as the college is barely a decade old and even in that a lot of changes happened just two years before I joined. The course changed, the campus redeveloped and some fresh legs in terms of faculties were roped in. The college has become one of the fastest moving colleges in Kolkata and it just shows you how much IMI has moved forward in such a short period. It would be a pain to which parts of the college I loved the most because academics was alright, the faculties were stupendous, placements outstanding, infrastructure mind blowing and the campus life was mind boggling. We got plenty of opportunities to get exposed to corporate culture as the college itself was no less than a corporate park.
If one has to cement his/her placements, they have no choice but to study hard and be a part of all the initiative taken by the college to educate the students. At IMI Kolkata, one has to always push the guy who is ahead of them as coming top from bottom is never cool and this is what we were taught. So, the push-ups never ended as amid all the friendship that we had was secondary as at the front of our noses we knew that we have a competition standing in front of us. The reason why we were prepared to live such way because it is even harder to survive in corporate jobs but the practice for that started at IMI and that is why I or for that matter all the IMI students have been able to survive at the latter stage of their lives.
Few years down the line, the college was known for many worse reasons and one of those was that the institute didn’t have the quality faculty. Things have changed now as all the faculties who teach here are from IIMs, XLRIs, or the other top institutes. Industry expert were called upon time to time as IMI is a corporate backed college. Faculties were sharper than the knives and their eagle eye would see the things which others in general can’t. So, there feedbacks used to be harsh but they in a way did us favors.
For placements one has to fight till their last breath. However, this is what IMI taught us that never go down in life without a fight. So, we all fought and gave our best and the end result was that 7 out of 10 students were placed in the firms they desired. I always wanted to see myself working in the bank and I got placed with Federal Bank. The Tata Group Companies, ITC, Nestle, and others were the top recruiters.
I have not seen IIM hostels, but IMI Kolkata hostels were exceptional. Though I wasn’t a part of it but students were allowed to go at the hostels during college hours and I went there many a times with my friends. I went to both boys and girls hostel and it would be a pain to pick and choose which was better. I also had the food at the hostel mess and again, it was by no means a mug because a platter was served to the students in the form of variety that was there in daily meals.
IMI Kolkata campus infrastructure was not just good looking but indeed the best looking in the area which is one of the top localities of the city. The full features of the infrastructure will require at least two more reviews of this size as the campus may not be that huge but had features that one can only be in awe of. The college draws the crowd because of its infrastructure. One just has to see the reception area and the lounge besides that and they will never go without taking admissions here. Infrastructure was superstar as the auditorium had seen many superstars come and give lectures. The café of the campus was on the expensive side but it was still worth it.
Life was fun because I was living amidst a crowd that had so diversity in it. Students from Gujarat, Punjab, and North East among others made the crowd of the university amazing. The college also did their bit in making the life happening by organizing one of the best fests I have ever seen in CONFERO. It was a pan-India level competition as students of many colleges in India were invited for participation at the fest.

IMI is a brand name when it comes to B-Schools and the stakeholders, i.e., Goenka’s are into education business for so long that student’s interest will always be kept first at their schools or colleges. IMI Kolkata was no different as it is relatively new but has grown leaps and bounds in recent past. IMI has their own entrance test and though easier than CAT/MAT or the other entrances one still has to crack it because out of 15,000 people that give the entrance of IMI, only 1200-1500 are s... IMI Kolkata is a good college and mind you they have their own entrance too. The top scores of entrances go to IMI Delhi as that is a four-decade old institute while International Management Institute Kolkata is proportionally new. When it comes to education, the college is a dangerous outfit because the studies here are no less than any top B-Schools. The course is vast and plus we had to manage various other things at the college from events, to seminars, to workshops. Things were endless and ... Read Full Review
The college was established in 2010 and still have made good strides in becoming close to other top colleges of Kolkata like CBS, Sister Nivedita University or NHSM among others. IMI gives admissions to students with lesser CAT percentile and interview too was just a formality. IMI Kolkata fees are high but again the infrastructure of institute is stunning. Luckily both the colleges that I have attended have taken care of one thing and that is infrastructure. Many of friends were in CBS, so I ha... Read Full Review
After exploring all the possibilities of getting admissions into a B-School from east to west, I decided to go to IMI Kolkata. They accept students with 80 percentile which is fairly low but in the average grid too, one can make a great career if they develop the required skills. IMI has helped us hone our skills and present ourselves in the way that interviewers are left with no choice but to hire us. I mark IMI as a fine college and when it comes to ranking, it comes somewhere at the top of B-... Read Full Review
