Not just in academics, but if you want to become a better person overall, you should choose Indraprastha College for Women. I did my graduation there under the batch 2013 to 2016 in BA Hons. I had to work very hard in my school to get admission in north campus. But it was worth it. The faculty is very good and the best course is Mass Com. Still almost every course is above average rated in this college. It is compulsory to do extracurricular activities and attendance rules are very strict. But the infrastructure and the aesthetic of the college cannot be ignored. Safety can also be concern for the people who are moving to Delhi but I can assure you won’t face any safety issues in the college. Though it is slightly away from the north campus but it is good or bad in its own ways.
I took admission in Hons in Political Science. There will be 6 semesters through 3 years. You will be assignment different parts of your subject in these semesters. If you are doing Honors you will have to choose a minor subject in 2nd year. You will be given a time table. Unlike schools you will have to go to different classes. There will be tutorial classes for doubts and quarries for students. Teachers are really helpful and try to cooperate in every way possible. There will be internals, assignments, and presentations from time to time. They don’t force to memories all the facts unless it’s needed. Teachers focus more on making you understand the topic.
The faculty was amazing there. All teachers were mostly from DU and doing well in their respected field. Our HOD (Head of Department) Swati Ma’am is the sweetest person ever. I know we have so many questions in the beginning, you can ask her anything, she will explain in best possible way. Teachers come prepared for their lectures and teaching method is mostly discussion where they try to involve all the students. Some students come from Hindi medium, so they schedule extra tutorial classes for them to give extra time. Teachers don't focus only on finishing the syllabus, also will guide you for your future.
Students from humanities focus more on UPSC, and PhD but still some internship opportunities are provided by the college during placement time. For placement, there is a main central placement cell as well which not just provide but also prepare students for placements. Students have got packages like 21 lakhs per year.
There are 2 hostels in IPCW, KG hostel and IP hostel. So, KG hostel is situated inside the campus and IP hostel is right outside the building. KG hostel recently renovated in 2017. It is cheaper than IP hostel and people who have better cut off marks get this hostel. Both hostels have Wi-Fi enabled has security cameras, and centrally air cooled. There will be so many activities like Freshers and farewell and other festivals also celebrated in the hostel. We should not have great expectations from hostel mess. But Hostel will defiantly become your 2nd home.
I will personally ask you to visit the campus at least once in your lifetime because it is absolutely beautiful. The architecture is really amazing. When I left the college, it was still under construction. In monsoon season Peacocks can be found dancing in the campus. It has all the facilities including gym, sports, swimming pool etc. They will be charged extra like 200/- per month which is affordable. College has a canteen too but it is not that great. Every class is not advanced in Tech but it has enough to get buy. College has an IT center as well. There is photocopy, recharge shop and an inside the campus which can be life saver at times.
The life is not as a co-ed college life. But if you want to take admission in a college where you want to learn not just academics but all the aspects that will be helpful in future also. IP is free from DUSU election turmoil as you can see. Participating in extracurricular activities like NCC NSS, Swimming, Drama, Debate, Dance, and Music is compulsory. IP has a very peaceful hassle-free campus which is green throughout the year. Fest ‘Shruti’ is not that great but you can attend all the other fests of north campus. My journey is IP college changed me entirely and made me a better human being.
