Overall Thapar University is the best academically as well as for the social life of an Individual. Student is taught to face the real challenges of life along with equipping them with the latest tech facilities and up skilling them. Factors why I chose this University is because it is a premium and oldest legacy of the University with a unmatchable placement record and good tech facilities that can make it easy for an individual to cope up with the industry challenges.

Course that I chose is Computer Engineering at Thapar University and what motivated me to enroll is the future scope since the demand of the industry is increasing in the field of hardware as well as software. Entry in the University is based on JEE Main score as well as 10+2 PCM score. Frequency of exams is almost same for all the branches with MSTs and EST with both as equal and important weightages. Academics do not only prepare an individual for exams but also face real life challenges.

The total course fee at Thapar University varies across all branches. For example, the academic/tuition fee (for 1 semester) for students enrolled in B.Tech Biotechnology branch is Rs. 2,70,000 while for those in B.Tech Computer engineering, it is Rs. 2,97,000. The development fee for each semester is Rs. 57,000. Scholarships are provided from second year onwards on the basis of JEE Main score and 10+2 percentage (for second year only) as well as CGPA. Students are divided across 3 merit lists for scholarship. For students in list 1, both the academic and development fee concession is provided. For students in list 2, only academic fee concession is provided, while for students in list 3, half the academic fee is reduced.

Faculty members at Thapar University have a good blend of experience as well as expertise in their respective departments. All the faculty members that are conducting lectures from 1st to final year have a doctorate (Ph.D) in their subject. Most teachers use PPTs as a source of explaining course content/teaching material but for some specific subjects, Practice group discussions and experiments are conducted wherever required. The faculty is experienced enough to address all curriculum-related queries of the students. The University has a decent (50:1) teacher-student ratio. Many faculty members are very open and welcoming towards all non-academic queries of the students if they are approached with one.

The Thapar University campus has designated blocks for every single/major department in the University. Total campus size is approximately 350 acres. It is located near the cantonment area of Patiala. All blocks and lecture halls have appropriate seating capacity to accommodate an extra 30-40 students in case of emergencies. Labs are equipped with all the latest technologies as well as safety equipment. The library has all relevant literatures available for reference for the students. There are also multiple canteens/cafes adjacent to every block for convenience of both the students and the faculty. A health center/ dispensary and chemist shop is also present inside the campus for case of any medical emergencies. My favorite aspect of the infrastructure is the sports equipment and the play ground/ fields that are available for the students to make use of.

My overall campus life at Thapar University is fun and exciting. The University crowd is also decent with many students at similar or even complementing skill sets with each other. One along with the studies can learn to face real life challenges as well as can understand the meaning that "Man is a social animal". Life at the campus is exciting as well as adventurous in all aspects like culturally, socially and obviously technically.
