Thapar University Patiala: Electronics & Computer Engineering Program

Overall experience at the campus is fantastic. The ongoing college life is awesome. I made many friends in spite of being introvert in nature and less social. The environment of the campus is very friendly.

The course that I chose is Electronics & Computer Engineering that is very unique and uncommon branch and is rarely present in other engineering universities. Here I can learn about the computer programming along with the electronics and the management between both of them. Admission takes place on the basis of JEE Main score as well as 10+2 board's percentage and there are 50% seats reserved for both the modes. Frequency of exams is almost same for all the courses with mid semester tests, end semester tests along with the regular ongoing lab evaluations.

Fee structure is about 30 to 32 Lakh would be the cost of B.Tech degree along with hostel and mess expenses. Roughly, the complete fee ranges around 3.5 Lakh for each semester including mess and hostel charges. Scholarships are provided to first year students on the basis of their score in JEE Main and on the basis of CGPA from second year onwards. The scholarship ranges from a fee waiver of Rs. 2,30,00 to Rs. 5,60,000 per annum on basis of merit and cutoff.

Faculties at Thapar University are top notch with great experience and qualifications. All have passed the minimum criteria of doctorate in their fields and minimum 5 years of teaching experience. Method of teaching is through projectors and PPTs in the lectures and white/black boards in the practice sessions or the tutorials. Teacher to student ratio remains 80:1 during lectures and 25:1 during the tutorials or the practice sessions. My personal experience with faculty is very good and they are very helpful in nature.

There are like 8 to 10 academic blocks in the campus and all are present with suitable sitting capacities according to the strength of classes and all are centrally air conditioned with automated washrooms and world-class facilities. Canteen is present in every block that is run by Sodexo. Library in the campus is among the top 5 best libraries among the country and named as ‘Nava Nalanda Library’. Dispensary is present with its availability for 24 hours with specialized doctors present and ambulance service is present that arrives to the hostel midnight on one call and refers the student to hospital outside if necessary. My favorite part in the campus infrastructure is Library.

Overall campus life is awesome with healthy and joyful mixture of studies and enjoyment. Many clubs train the students not only academically but also culturally and socially for their bright future ahead. Annual fest of the university has just ended with a grand concert of renowned singer Amit Trivedi. Honestly, I love this university life and happy to be a part of such a world-class level university and I will give my best to maintain the legacy of the university.
