Campus Life at SNU Kolkata

The School of Law at Sister Nivedita University provides a wide range of opportunities to explore the field of law. The university provides courses on all branches of law—BBA.LL.B (Hons.), B.A.LL.B (Hons.), B.Com.LL.B (Hons.) (5 years integrated course), LL.B (3 years course), and LLM (2 years). Sister Nivedita University is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university provides a perfect blend of academics and extracurricular activities.

I chose Sister Nivedita University for my law school journey, as I was sure it would give me wings for my career, and I don't regret my decision. To enter into the school of law, you have to appear for and pass 10+2 (in any stream) and appear for CLAT UG. We have foreign language courses like Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. Concept learning is built for all the subjects taught in the semesters. The School of Law organises moot court competitions and seminars. We are recently having a two-day seminar on the right to mental health with a special focus on Northeast India sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi.

When I took admission in Sister Nivedita University the total course fees was Rs. 4, 00,000, which I found comparatively less than other universities. Moreover based on my 10+2 standard marks they offered me a scholarship of 75% which reduced my per semester fees. The faculty of the School of Law at Sister Nivedita University is highly qualified. Most of them have a Ph.D degree or are pursuing a Ph.D from reputed universities. The faculties give their 100% to help and guide you to balance between studies and other activities. They use modern technology like ppts to explain concept. They encourage students to give presentation on their chosen topics in groups so that you learn team work. The faculties are approachable and ready to help you in all possible ways.

The institute has a basketball court and nice green ground with a big infrastructure and I think the statute of Sister Nivedita in the middle of the field is highlight of our campus. There are food trucks and a canteen for the students. The medical room is used for emergencies. We have bus facilities available for the ease of transportation. All types of required books are found in the library. The classrooms are spacious. To give us a taste of real courtroom scenes, the School of Law of Sister Nivedita University has a moot courtroom. Our seminar hall is used for conducting major events by all departments.

For me, Sister Nivedita University forms a wonderful opportunity to interact with other students and learn from a variety of perspectives on my subject. Students have free-flowing interactions with one another. Our university has various groups like the dance club and sports clubs, and people give enthusiastic participation. There were held some fests by our institution; the most recent among them is the 38th AIU Inter University East Zone Youth Festival, from January 8th to 12th, 2025. Last but not least, I can say that my university experience has definitely gone beyond my expectation.
