My Journey At AU

Overall Rating
Assam University is a vast University based in Silchar. The people here are from different states and cultures which makes the University very diverse and interesting. Our University also conducts various events and fests frequently. We celebrate both religious and cultural festivals as well. Even different sports as organized. All the different departments are involved in these events. Outsiders are also allowed here. The Assam University has a very good balance of extra curriculum activities and studies.
 

Academics Rating
I took admission in computer science department as computer is my favorite subject and I want to pursue it in future as a developer so I chose computer science. you can get admission here via both HSC marks as well as CUET marks. Semester examinations are conducted twice per year and 2-3 internals are taken before each semester. Computer science is very important for coming future, so it will definitely help the students with real-life challenges.
Admission fee is around Rs. 22,000 yearly. This includes library fee, bus service, gym and healthcare. Here the examination fee is taken separately before each semester. The fee is same for all categories.
 

Faculty Rating
Teachers, staffs and seniors at Assam University are very good and polite. They will always help you whenever you need them. Our department generally uses whiteboards and marker. We sometimes use smart boards and protectors for specific concepts. Teachers are good at problem solving, in fact some will make you understand the concept one-on-one for better understanding. 1:6 is the teachers to students ratio. My experience here has been good with all the teachers. The teachers are very approachable and polite, but few are strict.
 

Placement Rating
There are no placements provided by the Assam University.
 

Hostel Rating
I didn't opt for hostel at AU.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure at AU is very good and well maintained. The classroom, lab, halls are good. The computer labs are in working condition. The sports field is well maintained and playing kits are also available. The roads are cleaned and are smooth with no holes or cracks. The health centre is equipped enough for any kind of first aid situation. I wished there were more benches and seats beside the road to sit and relax.
 

Campus Rating
The campus Life at AU is very good and it’s not the crowded. The students' union AUSU (Assam University Students Union) is a club that is run by students only. This is like a small politics. There is one president who is selected and is responsible for looking after the different factors affecting the University campus. Assam University conducts a lot of cultural fests and events. Sports are also included here. We also celebrate seasonal and religion festivals.

    Overall my experience was satisfactory. I chose to pursue Masters' in Chemistry as it has wide opportunities in future. TOther students residing in Barak valley shall opt for this Institute as it is the only Institute there offering higher studies. The institute is surrounded by greenery and provides peaceful environment for studies, which makes it unique.
