My Campus Life at Assam University Silchar: Good Academics & Infrastructure.

Overall Rating
The University and the facilities provided by the University are good. The University provides all the facilities to the students. I chose this University because it’s close to my house. It also has plenty of space for roaming. The faculty members of this University are also good.
 

Academics Rating
I have chosen Bachelor of Pharmacy as I was preparing for NEET earlier which didn't go well that’s why I chose this course. The admission process basically includes entrance test by the department or students can also take admission after qualifying CUET. The admission process is quite easy. It conducts 6 exams in a single academic year which includes 4 internal tests and 2 semester exams. The academics really prepare us for real life challenges.
The fee of my course is Rs. 67,000/-. Earlier the fee was Rs. 43,000/- but the fee has increased in 2025. The tuition fee is Rs. 3,600/- for a year. There are many other charges also which students need to pay such as transportation fee, infrastructure development fee, etc. The students can also apply for NSP portal which offers a amount of Rs. 98,000/- per year.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members of Assam University are quite good and friendly. They take their lectures very seriously and they are very punctual. Sometimes due to various holidays, they won’t be able to complete their syllabus on time so they skip some topics otherwise they teach the students very well. The teaching method includes PPTs, blackboard, etc. The problem solving abilities of the teachers are good. Overall, the teachers are well educated.
 

Placement Rating
I haven't heard about any placement cells in this University. Some companies come for internship purposes but you have to pay fee for it. The placements are given to those who score good marks in their academics.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the University provides hostel facilities to the students. There are separate hostel for girls and the boys. The hostels are well developed and clean. Getting a seat in hostel is quite difficult because many students opt for the hostel facilities. The quality of the food is average. The timing of the hostel is 6 AM to 10 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The main campus is spread over 600 acres. The infrastructure of our department is average. The campus is cool during the summers because it is surrounded by many trees. The campus has 2 big libraries which have all kinds of books. The University also has playground, indoor games, gym, health centre, canteen, etc. Some departments have good infrastructure which is well equipped with AC facilities. The transportation is also available for the students. It has a war museum where you can sit and see the tanks.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at Assam University is enjoyable if you have friends, you can enjoy various programmes like concerts, open mic, jamming, various sports, cultural programmes, etc. It also conducts an annual fest which includes various sports and cultural activities. There are no clubs till now but the students organises various fests.

    Assam University is a vast University based in Silchar. The people here are from different states and cultures which makes the University very diverse and interesting.     Overall, my two year journey at this University has been quite good. This campus is actually surrounded by trees which create a very peaceful environment.     Overall my experience was satisfactory. I chose to pursue Masters' in Chemistry as it has wide opportunities in future. TOther students residing in Barak valley shall opt for this Institute as it is the only Institute there offering higher studies.
