IGDTUW’s Campus Life: Fests, Societies, and Cultural Experiences

IGDTUW known as Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women located in heart of Delhi Kashmiri Gate which offers many UG, PG and Ph.D programs. Well if we focus on undergraduate programs so this can be done in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, and these with specialisation in AI. Other than that we have mechanical and automation programs as well. I am pursuing Mechanical and Automation Engineering. So what made me to take admission into this university are its placement ratio & package, its cultural fest taarangana, and being situated at Kashmiri Gate so it’s easy to travel. When we talk about faculty and seniors they all are amazing. We can freely contact them without any hierarchy. Students usually think about ragging as it is a girl’s university but no there is nothing like that. Even we don’t call our seniors as ma’am. Overall the life in IGDTUW is worth it.

Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women offers many courses like B.Tech in CS, IT, Electronics, MAE and specialization with AI other than it BBA and B.Arch. When we talk about eligibility criterion for admission in IGDTUW: one can get admission through JAC counselling for which JEE Mains is mandatory. A science stream student having Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in it 12th can appear for JEE Mains. Different branches have different cutoff. If you are from Delhi you will get a priority. It is advisable to maintain CGPA of 8 in the university. We only have 2 exams in a semester one is mid sems and other end sems. Mid sems are of 30 marks and end sems carry 60 marks. 25 marks are for practical. It’s not hectic all professors are knowledgeable and helpful.

When we talk about fees structure. It’s quite less comparatively in DTU, NSUT and IIIT. It’s approx. Rs. 1, 50,000 annually which we have to pay in a year. There are scholarships also available for special category students. Instead of this there are scholarships of toppers of each branch. There are many government scholarships which are available on e-district site. Amount varies scheme to scheme.

The reason why Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women is always in the top draw of ranking is largely because of kind of faculty we have. Faculty of IGDTUW is well qualified with majorly holding Ph.D and advanced studies from reputed university like IITs and NITs. Mostly professors are understanding and helpful. You can reach out to them directly. Yes, there are always some expectations. Many professors believe in practical knowledge but little focus only on theory part. Mostly professors prefer modern techniques to make students more curious and develop their interest in their respective subjects. I wish I could mention some of my faculty names as the kind improvisation they do just to enhance our learning experience. Most of the faculty has a teaching experience of more than a decade.

When we talk about placements of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, then I would say that it compete many IIT’s. In recession period also we have a higher placement ratio than universities. Our training and placement cell works to make placement 100%. Many MNCs like Microsoft, JP Morgon, PayPal, Rupee, Visa, etc. come with high number of vacancies. We also have internship drive for 3rd year and 4th year students. The average package of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women is 14 LPA.

Since it is all girls’ university, hostel is in the campus itself. The facilities in the hostel are more than average. The food of mess is also. Good and has a huge variety.

IGDTUW is smaller than DTU and NSUT as it is located in Kashmiri Gate so it is not possible to have more space but still we have 70 acres which is not that small. There are different buildings allotted for every department. We have a library and book bank which opens from 9 AM to 7 PM. there is a auditorium in our university mostly events are held there. There are 2 canteens in our university. There is a medical department also. A very high security is there being a girls university. When we talk about classrooms, mostly classrooms are air conditioned and have smart boards in them.

Our campus life is exceptional as we have nearly 40 odd societies some of them are taarangana, rehanuma, e-cell, Rotaract club, hypnotics, and others. I am a part of hypnotics thereby we have the opportunity of performing in various fests and other competitions. We have 3 main overall fests in our university; there are cultural fest, technical fest and sports fest. The cultural fest "Taarangana"is organised by cultural society Taarangana which mainly occurs in February. Many singers and celebrities usually performed in past years are Shaan, Javed Ali, Darshan Ravel, Shera and many more. Sports fest is organised by sports society synergy.
