Gargi College: Glimpse of Academics & College Life

Overall Rating
Being a part of Gargi College felt surreal and overwhelming as it is a prestigious part of the South Campus of University of Delhi. It offers a variety of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. There are a number of amazing societies out there to keep you engaged and help students in their holistic development. I chose it because of two reasons: First being proximity to my home Secondly because it's a government college, which is bound to provide better opportunities and exposure than the private ones.
 

Academics Rating
The course chosen by me is Bachelor of Commerce (Hons). Students aspiring to be a part of any colleges of University of Delhi need to appear for CUET and according to the scores, they are allotted seat in North Campus, South Campus and off Campus colleges. There are 2 semesters in a year. Internal assessments are conducted throughout the semester, which consists a portion of attendance, presentations, class tests, etc. and then at the end comes the semester exams.
The fee structure varies depending on the courses but it is very affordable and has a positive ROI.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members are generally. Associate professors are well versed in their subjects. There are certain professors who also have a PhD qualification in their subjects and have an experience of teaching 25+ years. Therefore, they tend us to discuss the job roles and current market scenarios and examples as well. They are highly regarded for their expertise and commitment to student development. They are quite approachable and understanding in nature.
 

Placement Rating
Gargi has a strong placement record especially for the Commerce stream. The PC provides excellent job opportunities with the big four companies. It also provides meaningful internship opportunities, Alumni talks, Career Roadmaps sessions, and webinars throughout.
 

Hostel Rating
The college doesn't have any residential facilities. There are several hostels available for girls in a walking distance of barely 10 to 15 minutes.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Gargi College has a well-maintained campus. In all the classrooms, comfortable desks are available with projectors and screens to facilitate teaching and learning. There are laboratories, library, canteen, an auditorium having a seating capacity of over 750 people and a seminar hall for over 250 people. There are different blocks for Commerce, Science, and Arts students in which the lectures by the professors are held. However, the infrastructure can be improved and more facilities can be provided.
 

Campus Rating
The overall campus life is amazing. It genuinely evolves you as a person owing to the people of different cultures, regions, and perceptions. The college crowd is quite sophisticated and has an education inclination. There are many societies like Placement Cell, Comascent, Enactus, CDF Gargi, etc. Every other day sports, yoga, quizzes, and competitions are organized. Reverie, the annual fest of Gargi College is what everyone waits for. It's a 3-day fest, amazing competitions by different societies are organized, and amazing artists are invited to make the event special. Only Gargi students are allowed to attend the fests.
