Chemical Engineering at NIT Trichy

My institute life is blend of academics and extracurricular activities. The institute gives a stress free environment for students explore their interests succeeds in whatever field they want. Factors that made me choose National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli is that it is a well reputed and recognised institute and it also has good placement history. Also the institute gives me the valuable NITians tag and it is also in 9th position in NIRF ranking. The difference between my institute and other institute is that we get lot of freedom to try different things.

The course which I chose is Chemical Engineering and the reason for the course is that I am more interested in petroleum and energy field. The entry requirement is that we should have a high rank in JEE MAINS exam conducted by NTA and we should also score above 75% in 12th board exam. Admission process is through JOSAA counseling, it will take place in online. Yearly there will be two semesters and in each semester we will have two class tests and one end semester exam. Academics prepare us to face and solve industrial problems.

The fees to be paid are Rs. 62,500 per semester and there will be yearly maintenance fees of Rs. 22,000. There will one time admission fees of Rs. 29,500. For the students who have total family income less than 1 lakh will get complete fee remission and when the total family income is between 1- 5 lakh will get 2 / 3rd of fee remission.

The faculties at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli are good and they are teaching the concepts to the depth. The faculties are well experienced and have high technological knowledge and they use both PPTs and blackboards to teach in class. The faculties have a good problem solving technical knowledge. The Student: Teacher ratio at NIT Trichy is 11:1, they are easily approachable any time at their cabin. They are so friendly with students and most of the faculty have good bond with students.

The campus have separate academic block for first year students and rest of the year students in another academic block. The classrooms are of good quality, well ventilated and well lit at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Every room has a projector and mic. The campus is built in a vast area of 800 acres and it is located midway between Trichy and Thanjavur. The classroom can accommodate more than 150 people at a time. There are academic facilities like Library, Labs, Sports center, etc. The favorite place in institute is coke station.

My overall institute experience is so good and enjoyable. The crowd in National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli is more than 5000, but due to its large area we do not feel that crowded. I am part of many fest teams in the institute; the institute also has many technical clubs like Coding Club - Delta, Design Club, TEDx, NIT Trichy, and many other clubs. There are many engagement activities held in institute, yearly we have 3 big fests.
