St. Xavier's College from the Eyes of a Freshmen

Overall Rating
I finished my 12th, and was confused which college to pick. I started to look and apply for few colleges from Delhi and Mumbai. After sometime, I received a call from St. Xavier's College. It is known to be the best college for Arts in Mumbai. However, not many people know about their BMS process. I cleared the XET exam and enrolled myself here. I had always heard a lot about this college and was excited for my first day.
 

Academics Rating
I went for BMS because it opens multiple career paths to different fields like Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, etc. For Xavier’s, we had to appear for XET, which is an entrance test with Math, GK, and aptitude questions. We have CIAs (Continuous Internal Assessments) for each subject and end semester exams too. The course curriculum is diverse now due to NEP we have subjects like Zoology and Botany as well.
Fee for BMS first year is Rs. 75,000 and it includes everything. There are plenty of scholarships and aids for deserving students and students from Underprivileged backgrounds in order to establish equity. As per my knowledge, fee will be Rs. 50,000 for second and third year each.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is great. We have teachers who have decades of experience. Professor Kishu and Professor Aggie are best in my department. Their teaching methodology too is pretty nice and interactive. The mode of communication is English. You can after the lecture too to get your doubts solved. The teachers also advise you on any personal problems you have and you have an intellectual discussion with them after class. There is 1 teacher for 60 students in a division.
 

Placement Rating
St. Xavier's College does have a placement cell and it is active. They line you up with jobs and internships. There are also many activities which aim for building skills to make students more employable and productive. Consulting Firms mainly grace our college. Top firms like Bain, Accenture, etc. frequently visit our college. Average package is around 6 LPA and can go as high as 30 LPA. As a first year student, we have only been involved in skill building seminars. Direct placement assistance starts from second year.
 

Hostel Rating
The college only has a boys' hostel and that is attached to the BMS building. The ex-principal Professor Aggie is the hostel warden. They have double sharing and triple sharing rooms. Hostellers are a pretty active around the campus.
 

Infrastructure Rating
St. Xavier's College is renowned mainly for its Gothic architecture. The campus is large compared to other colleges in Mumbai with dedicated areas for different objectives. It has a great green cover too and lot many cats around the campus. We have a gymkhana, hall, labs, and many more things. For BMS, they have started the fintech lab, which is that they have installed Bloomberg terminals to upskill us. The canteen is amazing with a great variety of food it’s a mini-restaurant in itself and the food is affordable too.
 

Campus Rating
The crowd is diverse with students from all across India and world. There are over 100 different clubs and societies for students to take part in. The college fest is ‘Malhar’ which is popular across the Mumbai and many celebs visit during this fest. Personally, my campus life here is pretty fulfilling. It makes you want to go to college every day. Typically student’s hangout in gardens, canteen, or near the foyer.

    I have been a part of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai since the last 2 months and all I can say is it's a really good college, provides nice opportunities for Extracurricular activities, sports, debates etc. Even the college clubs are good though getting in is somewhat difficult.     All the keypoints that make a college great are covered by St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. I took admissions in 2024 and was excited to join it at the earliest after my admissions were confirmed. Thrill to go college daily hasn't come down by a single percent. If the question is why this college and not others then my answer is always try for the best one. It is the best indeed....     St. Xavier's College, Mumbai is a great college with amazing exposure, just like Delhi’s top colleges. This is hands down the best in the nation for BMS, at this price and with a good brand value. Overall, has a great infrastructure and has a student exchange programs with universities like Harvard. When exchange students visit our campus, compare it with Harvard's dining room, the college has a long history since 1869 and is really great.     In India, every student of Commerce and Arts backgrounds dreams of getting into DU. But St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, is a strong contender and is often called Mumbai's SRCC. Offering academic excellence, vibrant extracurricular and top notch exposure, it rivals Delhi's best. Located near BSE and RBI, it provides students with prime financial and cultural access.
