IIT Madras: A Life Changing Experience

Overall Rating
Studying at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai is really a good experience for me, both academically and personally, this institute is number one among all the IITs. I chose IIT Madras because of its reputation in research and innovation as well as the endless opportunity in growth. What make IIT Madras stand out are its green campus, strong alumni network, and exposure to various fields beyond academics. If you are looking for a place that offers career opportunities and a supportive peer group, IIT Madras is definitely worth considering.
 

Academics Rating
I am doing dual degree in Biological Engineering. At IIT Madras admission involves passing JEE Advance, which is one of India’s most competitive and toughest exams. The curriculum is balanced with theory as well as practice. We get frequent quizzes, mid semester, end semester exam and assignments. The programs equip students with the ability to handle real world challenges, research opportunities and industry-specific projects. The academic setup assists in developing analytical and problem solving skills that are necessary for professional careers in the future.
The fee of my course is approximately Rs. 1,00,000 per semester . Apart from that, the students have to pay hostel and mess fees, which is around Rs. 30,000 per semester. Students are offered several scholarships like the merit-cum scholarship and also the financial assistance to economically weaker sections.
 

Faculty Rating
IIT Madras professors are well experienced and experts in their field. All the professors have done their PHDs from premier institutions such as IITs, IISc, and overseas universities. They deliver lectures through a combination of blackboard explanation, PPT slides, and hands- on demonstrations. One of the greatest advantages of the faculty is that they are approachable. Students can come and discuss uncertainties during office hours. The professors are also willing to mentor students in research projects and career choices. Student teacher ratio is well managed.
 

Placement Rating
IIT Madras has a placement cell that assists students in getting placed in leading companies and research institutions. The institute organizes mock interviews, resume preparation workshops, and technical courses to prepare the students for placements. Average package was 15LPA to 20 LPA, highest package can go beyond 2 Crore per annum for international offers, this year it was 4.2 crore per annum.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the institute provides on campus hostel facilities for boys and girls. Each hostel has well- maintained rooms, with amenities such as Wi-Fi, common spaces, laundry, and recreation rooms.
The mess food is good, with plenty of choices to suit various tastes. The mess has vegetarian and non vegetarian food and also follows hygiene. Hostel fee including mess is around Rs. 30,000 per semester.
 

Infrastructure Rating
IIT Madras has a huge lush green campus spread over more than 800 acres. The blocks are equipped with modern classrooms, AV facilities, AC seminar halls. The central library is an excellent source of books, research articles, and digital content. Sports complex with swimming pools, gym, and courts for various sports. Auditorium for cultural activities, a 24/7 healthcare centre, canteens, and the labs are also there.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at the institute is one of the best things about being here. The crowd is diverse, with students from all over India and abroad. There are numerous student clubs, including technical, cultural, and entrepreneurial groups. I am part of swimming team, which has been an amazing experience, both in the terms of competition and teamwork. The institute hosts ‘Shaastra’ (tech fest) and ‘Saarang’ (cultural fest), which are among the biggest student run festivals in India. Apart from academics, the campus encourages sports, music, dance, drama, and adventure activities.

  • TRUTH OF IITM'S ONLINE DATA SCIENCE COURSE

    The name is enough to enroll in this course as it is of IITM. This is one of the best course in online form and if you want to do an online course after 12th or want to study from IIT then this is the course you want. The faculty of course is great. You will get IIT teacher from IIT Madras and IIT Ropar. Placement cell is also there and many of the students get Internship. Campus provides all necessary stationary, and requirements for smooth study. I choose IIT Madras because of its academic excellence and great set of faculty.     Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has been NIRF 1 for many years. It offers variety of degree courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, Ph.D, MS, MA, HS and specialization courses. It has one of the best research facilities among all the colleges across India. It has a large campus with total area of over 600 acres and around half of it is covered with forest because of which we have very rich wildlife inside the campus itself such as monkeys, dears, endangered black bucks, fox, cats, snakes, etc. ...   • A great campus life to explore

    My overall experience until now has been really good. The campus is really good and it really big so we can enjoy most of the time on our campus itself. As I am in Chennai the weather is really hot but inside the campus, the weather is somewhat cold as there is more greenery like trees, etc. It is a 450 acres campus and around 100 acres is like a forest, so the weather is really good.
