Life at NIT Kurukshetra: A Guide for Upcoming Aspirants

Overall Rating
Overall, NIT Kurukshetra is a very decent institute. Campus is very beautiful with greenery all around. It is just that the infrastructure is average since this institute was build earlier, so buildings are a little old. I chose this institute because one I was getting home state quota and secondly, it was close to my home. Although, the area outside the institute is not very good from inside, the campus is very good and beautiful. The hostels here are every good.
 

Academics Rating
I chose Mechanical Engineering based on my rank. The eligibility criteria to get admission here is simple; you just have to give JEE Main, clear it, and secure a decent rank for your respective branches.
The fee structure here is quite simple. You have to pay the fee semester wise that is, after every six months. 1 Lakh is the tuition fee and other charges excluding mess fee and hostel charges, for which you are supposed to pay Rs. 30,000 separately. There is some concession if you belong to EWS and certain categories.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty here is decent. If you go to them to ask something, they will guide you. Their teaching method is good overall. They use either blackboard or smart board to teach according to the need. The teacher to student ratio is 1:10.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is placement cell here. There are concerned PCC and ICC in each branch, which are selected by the placement cell coordinator who takes care of all the things. Approximately, 80% of the students are placed every year here. There are many programs, which are conducted by the placement cell to guide and make the students aware of all the things. The companies that visit here for recruitment purposes are Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Sun Pharma, ITC Pharma, Maruti, Hero, Honda, etc. The average package is 8 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostels in NIT Kurukshetra are great; especially the girls’ hostel. You get separate room here and that is literally the best part of these hostels. The mess food is again ok. Although there is a mess committee, if you have any issue, it can be resolved.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is beautiful but the buildings are a little old and they really need renovation. Academic blocks are decent. Lecture halls are very nice. Campus size is approximately 300 acres but the locality is not very good. Classrooms are very good with upto 80-90 students seating capacity, there are ACs, projectors, and smart boards available for a better learning experience. There is a library, open-air theater, jubilee hall, seamen center, senate hall, etc. There are also canteens and market inside the campus.
 

Campus Rating
Overall, the campus life here is great and you are going to have the time of your life here. You are going to make memories that you are going to keep forever. The institute’s crowd is really decent but exceptions are always there. Since students have come here after clearing a tough exam, they are quite decent. There are many clubs being engaged in extracurricular activities such as, ELAD, SPICMACAY, Aeromodelling, MAD, Fine Arts, etc. I am a part of Aeromodelling club here. Apart from the clubs, there are fests (cultural and technical) which are very interactive.

    National Institute of Technology is good in my opinion if you are looking for NIT's in the northern India. The Institute is accompanied by beautiful lush green campus although there is a drawback which is that one person has to face some kind of difficulty for coming to this Institute by public transport.     The overall experience at the institute is great. You have good peers, great exposure, decent placements and a competitive environment.     In this institute, the overall experience is very good. It has a great past of 59 years. Factors that made me choose this particular institute is its reputation in market. This is the main factor; other factors are infrastructure, faculty, location and placement. This institute is no.1 in engineering institutes in Haryana so I choose this.
