Alumna’s Perspective About Hansraj College, New Delhi

Overall Rating
Overall experience at Hansraj College, New Delhi was really awesome. It made me ready to face the outside world. Being a part of this college, really improved my personality. I chose it because of faculty, societies, trips, and college life, it provided to the students. They even have a good alumni network to help with the internships and placements. Several canteens are here that provide both local and branded food. If you are thinking to join this institute then go for it.
 

Academics Rating
I am pursuing B.Sc here. Earlier the entry requirement was the class 12th board percentage, but now CUET is the sole criteria. The admission process is pretty easy. You just have to get a good rank and apply online by submitting your documents. College follows the semester system. There is an end semester exam, along with an internal test and assignment for each subject every semester. Academics prepare you well for M.Sc entrance tests and make you aware about new career opportunities.
The fee in 2022 was Rs. 28,000 per year. Some relaxation is given to meritorious students and SC/ST category students. There are several scholarships within the college and also collectively given by the Delhi University.
 

Faculty Rating
All the faculty members are expert in their respective subjects. Most of them have done their PhDs. The method of teaching varies according to the faculty members. They use PPTs, blackboards, discussions, quizzes, etc. to explain the topics and for checking the preparation level of the students. There are 16 teachers in my department. The faculty is experienced; some even have more than 15 years of experience. They are friendly and give valuable guidance for future endeavors and are very approachable. They organize conferences, seminars, and workshops to give you knowledge about research and future career options.
 

Placement Rating
Hansraj College, New Delhi has an internship cell and a placement cell. You have to register with these cells and get the relevant information & an opportunity to get placed. They organize internship fair with the faculty guidance. Various good companies like Deloitte, EY, and others visit the campus. The average package in 2022 was 13 LPA and highest was 36 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
Earlier only boy’s hostel was there but now they have constructed a separate girls’ hostel as well. Hostel room is allotted on the merit basis; initially of entrance test and then afterwards of semesters. Fee is Rs. 48,000 per year. Mess food is hygienic and laundry facility is also available. Initially, you'll have to share your room with someone.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The classrooms are spacious enough to accommodate about 60 to 65 students. Smart boards are available in each classroom. Several academic facilities are available as well. The labs are spacious and equipped well with all required instruments. Library caters to the needs of students; It is well stocked with all course and non course books. A book bank is also available, which lets you keep books for a year. There's a sports ground, which is a hub for cricket, badminton, basketball, and archery and is also used by students to bask under the sun during winters.
 

Campus Rating
There are 60+ college societies which give different experiences and prepare you for the outside world. Moreover, every department organizes its own seminars, workshops, and conferences to keep students informed. The crowd is cordial and supportive. I was a part of 4 societies of my college societies. Extracurricular activities are highly encouraging. College, New Delhi has its annual fest known as ‘Confluence’ and every department has its own fest during January to March. My experience in the college was really enriching.

    My overall experience was good. I am currently pursuing B.Com from Hansraj College New Delhi. The reason behind I chose this College was that it has proper balance of academics with extracurricular activities. Faculties are good here. It has great infrastructure with facilities.     My College comes at 12th in NIRF ranking. It’s among one of the top Colleges of Delhi University. The exposure and the faculty everything makes it unique. The moment I entered this College I knew there is something different here. Celebrity like Shah Rukh khan is alumni of this College.
