Admission Process for Jai Hind College's B.Sc

Jai Hind College has honestly been the best part of my college life. The campus might be small but it is packed with everything; well-equipped science labs, classrooms, library, research labs, psychology labs and my favorite spot, the Gymkhana. It is where all the fun happens-events, DJ nights, sports, etc. What truly makes this College special is the people and vibe. There is no ragging, from the support staff and even the Principle everyone is super friendly. The crowd is chill and welcoming. There is always something exciting going on and this place has helped me grow in every way possible. If you join this College, you will not just study- you will thrive!

I am an undergrad student in Jai Hind College, pursuing B.Sc Physics and main motive for choosing this particular course was because of the well-qualified and excellent faculty members and the lab facilities that department has. In order to be eligible for admission, the outstation students have to go through an interview with the vice principle of the respective departments and may have to appear for an online test well, otherwise students from the same state can directly apply through their 10+2 grades and are then shortlisted by merit. For Admission process, students have to register in college's portal and create an account. Once done with that, the students have to fill the admission form, containing personal, academicals and parental details followed by uploading of the basic documents such as grades for 10th & 12th examinations, aadhar card etc. After which, the students are shortlisted by their overall performance and merit list. Since this College is Autonomous, it has its own method of evaluation, which tests one's regularity in the study and the subject. There are two types of exams conducted, one is CA(continuous assessment) it consists of MCQS, assignments, seminars, and projects which are taken throughout the semester to test the regularity and the other one is SEE(semester End Exam) conducted in the end of every semester which consist of subjective questions. The course has various modules like Basics of Python, AL Ml in Python, C language and various modules of Electronics, which prepares us to gain necessary skills required to enter the job market.

The B.Sc course is affordable, with its annual fees of Rs. 12,000 since it is government aided. For special category of students, the amount reduces up to Rs. 3,000- Rs. 4,000 after aid. The college also offers the Sumitomo Scholarship for merit based students.

The Physics department has highly qualified faculty with all members holding doctorates in their respective field and are actively engaged in research. The teaching is interactive, which involves group discussions, blackboard sessions and student seminars as well. The faculty always encourages students in preparing for various exams like IIT JAM, GATE etc. The curriculum of the course for B.Sc Physics is designed in way that it covers the syllabus for exams like IIT JAM, TIFR GS etc. With 20:1 student teacher ratio, they give individual attention to students and encourage participation in summer schools and workshops- the faculty is truly supportive, kind and amazing.

Jai Hind College has a compact campus with two main buildings, the campus size is small but it is located in one of the most prestigious locations in South Bombay, i.e. near Marine drive. It is a perfect spot to unwind after lectures. The campus has two main buildings, which includes the Main building and Annexe. The main building includes the Principle's and VP's offices, Exam Centre, Canteen, Science Labs and Classrooms on individual floors for respective departments. A library, AV room and auditorium are there too. The Annexe Building houses gymkhana in the basement, which is more than a sports zone; it hosts everything from sports to DJ nights and various other college events. The gymkhana also has medical and first aid facilities. It has classrooms for Arts & Commerce courses, Psychology Labs and Centre for Abroad Consulting and a lot more things. Overall, it is a compact campus, but the crowd, vibe and location makes it premium.

The best thing about Jai Hind College is its campus Life! The crowd is super classy yet chill- no ragging, no negativity, and just good vibes. There is always something happening- events, fests and non-step activity. The place is buzzing year-round. With active cells like Women's Development Cell, Student Council, Entrepreneurship Cell, and IAC (Incubator and Accelerator Cell) that encourages student startups. If you will join this college, you will have the best campus life ever!
