SLS Pune's Admissions: Entrance Exams, Cut off, and More

Symbiosis Law School Pune is a college, which was established in 1977, so it has a huge alumni base. The college is closely connected to the city, making the location very advantageous. The college offers BA and BBA LL.B courses. The faculty of the college is very friendly and experienced, the college has its own placement committee which works hard in order to place as many students as possible. The college has alot of other cells too, which give you the opportunity to pursue extracurricular.

I'm enrolled in the B.A. LL.B course. In order to get admitted into this, aspirants need to give the SLAT exam and clear the written exam. An interview and sometimes Written Ability Test (WAT), which hasn’t been conducted for a while now, follow the written exam. In order to qualify for the interview the students needs to clear the cut off which is generally 38 for BBA and 40 for BA out of 60. You have three exams in a semester. The first being your written internals, which are of 10-20 marks depending on the subject and then you have your assignments which are like group projects. Then you have your end of semester examination just before your vacations. The academic curriculum is very rigorous and it prepares you for real life challenges.

The fee for a single semester is roughly 2.2 Lakh, so for a single year, consisting of two semesters the fee is 4.5 Lakh (approx). There is a scholarship where you are exempted from paying the fees of even sems if you score the highest in a subject at college. Also, there are a few other scholarships but they are generally given to very few students.

The faculty for law subjects like Torts, Contracts and Consti are very experienced and skilled. The faculty is very collaborative and supportive of the students. A lot of students write research papers with their faculty. Teachers have varied method of teaching, most faculty use PPT to teach in classes whereas some use the classic marker and board. Classes are generally interesting, barring a few. The faculty is extremely approachable and you can collaborate with them on a lot of things after class hours. The student teacher ratio is also fine.

The college conducts day 0, where firms and companies come in to recruit students. Students also get placed through PPOs. Top law firms and banks like AZB, KCO, SAM, CAM, ICICI etc. visit the campus. A few students also got placed in international firms like Linklaters in the past years. The highest domestic package was around 20 LPA. The internship and placement committee of the college works year round to provide students with internship opportunities.

There is one hostel for boys known as Kopou and two for girls - Tulip and Orchid. Most students leave their hostel after 1st year and move into PGs and flats located nearby. The hostel fee is around 2.5 Lakh per annum and you get food 4 times a day. The in time is 10 PM, if you want to stay longer than that you'll need permission from the warden and that needs to be approved by your parents.

The college is situated in the heart of the city, so the campus is not very big. But, we have a world class gym, a very big library and a canteen that sells everything you need. We also have a convenience store inside the college premises. The colleges is located near the airport which is very convenient for students. The classrooms don't have air conditioning as of now but the college is planning on installing a centralised air conditioning unit in the college very soon.

There are cool places near the college like famous restaurants clubs and malls. Students go out to cafes restaurants and clubs very frequently. The college has lot of cells as well, which let you participate in many extracurricular activities. The fest ‘Symbhav’ is one the biggest cultural fests of the city and it is extremely fun.
