Academics and Campus Life at Hindu College New Delhi

When I got into this college, I was thrilled. I did have the option to choose other colleges, but looking back, I’m truly glad I chose this. Hindu College is filled with active events and a lively atmosphere. Because of the diversity among students, courses, amazing cultural events and active societies, the atmosphere is full of excitement and everyone feels included. Here, you are always motivated to develop yourself mentally, creatively, and on a personal level. This college offers you a great environment to flourish and succeed.

I decided to attend this college because of its impressive academics and its lively learning setting. The Ministry of Education has ranked it as the No. 1 college in India in the NIRF 2024 rankings. You need to have good CUET scores in order to be admitted via CSAS. You need to complete the process virtually, and your merits are the main consideration. Assessment is done during the semester and at the end of each semester with two main exams each year. Staff members are skilled and motivate students to look deeper into different subjects. The college takes care of the overall development of its students with many electives, active academic societies, and guest lectures. It also helps students gain knowledge and the self-assurance to develop in a lively community.

The college, with different eligibility requirements and prizes, gives several scholarships and some are the Premvati Raghubir Singh Scholarship, R.B. Ram Kishan Dass Scholarship, and Chandra Bisaria Merit Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded based on merit and ability to pay, which reflects both student’s grades and financial limits. I'm pursuing B.Com. (Hons.), and the fee is Rs. 28,000 (approx.)

The faculty is highly qualified with many holding PhDs and a rich experience. The professors are available to help and give you guidance whenever you need them. Our professors assist us with our studies, help us with research, and give tips on our careers. Teaching methods include blackboards, PPTs, group discussions, interactive tutorials, seminars etc. Because they are impartial, they help everyone feel accepted. They not only help prepare us for examinations but also give tips for future so we can grow as students and individuals. They have been amazing to me, and I’m thankful for their help. I share a friendly bond with my teachers.

There is an active Placement Cell here (Disha) that helps students find opportunities with leading companies. It provides workshops for careers, runs mock interviews, and organizes plenty of recruitment sessions. The cell also arranges internship fairs and invites professionals to provide useful information to members. These well-known companies, Deloitte, EY, BCG, ZS Associates, Goldman Sachs, and Teach for India come to visit the campus. The highest salary package offered during the 2023 placement drive was 36.50 LPA. The Placement Cell gives students a good service.

The campus of Hindu College in Delhi University’s North Campus covers 9 acres and is well kept. All classrooms in the academic block are roomy and featuring projectors, whiteboards and blackboards. There is AC facility in commerce department. The college has a well-stocked library, advanced laboratories for science department, computers, seminar halls, and 2 big auditoriums. It has one canteen, a huge sports field and a gym. There is a medical centre as well. What I like most about this place is the peaceful atmosphere of the green lawns and the amphitheatre.

Life on the campus is lively, welcoming, and exciting. Because everyone comes from different backgrounds with strong creativity and intelligence, the crowd is truly inspiring. Students at the college manage several societies on dramatics, Debating, Music, Dance, Entrepreneurship, and Social Work. Activities happening regularly are workshops, fests and events. One of the top events in Delhi University each year is ‘Mecca’ of Hindu College and other main fests include ‘Suruchi’ (Diwali fest). Living and learning in this community has truly changed me, offering me plenty of learning and unforgettable memories with my friends, seniors and teachers. Academics go hand in hand with an appealing campus setting here.
