Lady Irwin College is best for Home Science. It has a legacy that is follows. It was set up in 1932.It has great infrastructure and faculty is supportive. It is well known for its specialisation in nutrition. You will find many nutritionists in several big hospitals. It offers specialisation in five domains; all five have good faculty, and career options. It gives you an experience that I believe no other college can give. Confidence is one of the many things that woman Irwin College provided me. If you are interested in learning about society, living and want to understand yourself better than nothing is better than this College.

Many people have a preconceived notion about my stream that it will teach you to cook food, sewing and make you nothing but a homemaker. However, to clarify home science is not what people think; they should once go through the syllabus to know what actually home science is. While choosing the course I followed the same, I went through several courses syllabus. It has five departments, namely, food science and nutrition, resource management and design application, communication, human development and childhood studies. I believe hearing the names of departments is giving you idea; To take admission you must give CUET, you should be medical student to take admission in honors otherwise you can take admission is pass course. Due to preconceived notion, many students do not choose this course. People should understand home science is not limited to home, it prepare you for real life.

The fee is paid yearly. First year fee are comparatively more than other years. 2024 batch paid Rs. 40,000 for first year. This year according to new little structure of 2025-26 first years, have to pay Rs. 42,800. While there is no special discount category wise but scholarship is provided to EWS.

Faculty is one of the biggest strength of our college, they are not only highly qualified (maximum have PhD and several papers) but also supportive and approachable. They care about our progress. Mix media is used for teaching, Pots are provided to students for future reference, and blackboard is used to make us understand the concept and open group discussion always take place. We have many workshops and guest lecturers. Faculty here is always ready to guide you, support you.

Internship and placement are available in specialisation with organizations like AIIMS, UNICEF, MAX healthcare, Aditya Birla, and many more. There is no placement cell but faculty helps you to get placement.

Lady Irwin was set up in 1932 so have a beautiful infrastructure. They have updated their infrastructure to keep up time. A completely new block was inaugurated in 2019. College is set up in quite a big area. Location of college usually attracts students. It is located in Mandi house, at a walking distance from metro station. Being in middle of Delhi there are many places to visit. As for infrastructure classroom are spacious. Library, several labs, seminar hall, auditorium, conference hall are present. There is front lawn, back lawn, computer lab and sports room for student. Medical facility is also provided by college. College has great collection of books and e resource is available. The beauty of campus is mesmerizing.

Campus life is of ups and down like any other college but it's enjoyable. The crowd here is very good. They are supportive and everyone is to help you. Seniors are always present to guide you, help you; they will be your friend. There are several societies in college for dancing, singing, art, environment, photography, drama, street play and many more. Many events are held in college, like sports day, Diwali celebration, Bollywood Day, Ted Talk etc. Annual fest also take place, it includes dj night and other day and artist is called. Several inter college competitions also take place.
