What Every Student Should Know About IIT Roorkee

Overall Rating
A dream that was instilled in me as a 15-year old finally came to life after 3 years of hard work. After the results, I was very clear about the fact that I wanted to get into one of the top IITs and I am glad that I took admission in this Institute. My learning growth after joining IIT Roorkee has been exponential. The leaning is not always just about academics but it also aware us about different fields. My reason to join this Institute is because it’s close to my house. This Institute provides a lot of opportunities; you should also choose this Institute.
 

Academics Rating
The academic structure is flexible here, 70% of subjects are based on the course and the rest 30% is electives. You can choose any course spanning from Computer Science to Management in your electives. The attendance is not compulsory here though some professors give few marks for the attendance. For admission in this Institute you have to qualify JEE Main.
The fees structure of IIT Roorkee is pretty much affordable as compared to other Institutes. They also provide scholarship to financially week students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here is surely one of the best. We have extremely experienced professors with fancy degrees. They have also done their education from IITs. Most of the professors are approachable. The teaching method includes blackboard and PPTs. The student teacher ratio is average. For every subject that requires practice and attention such as Mathematics. For that we have Ph.D students which are allotted to a batch of 30-40 students.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the Institute provides hostel facilities to the students. The new hostels are built in a magnificent way with all sorts of luxuries.
 

Infrastructure Rating
IIT Roorkee is an old Institutions but it is well equipped with modern amenities. The Institution has classrooms, labs, seminar rooms, and auditorium which are well equipped with projectors, air conditioners, etc. Overall the infrastructure is top notch.
 

Campus Rating
If you are passionate about something you will surely get it here, whether it is sports such as cricket, etc. The Institutes has all the resources for all of them. The Institute has various clubs which will provide you a great exposure. They organise cultural fest called Thomso and Cognizance. They also conduct sports fest called Sangram where several sports enthusiasts participate. At the end of the day when I look back at my preparation days. I feel that it was all worth it and one of the best decisions of my life.

    I feel Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is good and I don't have any disappointing issues with it. I feel like most of the facilities are available in the institute. We have gym, ground, temple, canteens and many more so that we spend our time in learning anything in the institute and also we have a library where it is very peaceful to study. Hence you get along with everyone as they have also faced the same difficulties that you faced during your preparation.     The campus is excellent in terms of infrastructure, academics, environment and overall facilities. It is the oldest engineering institute in Asia with a legacy of more than 175 years.
