IEM Kolkata is undoubtedly the best private engineering college in West Bengal only after one of the best colleges of the nation like Jadavpur University, IIEST Shibpur, IISER Kolkata, NIT Durgapur, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Kalyani Government Engineering College, and IIT Kharagpur. Overall, the experience is quite good in my college. I have basically chosen this college because the college has good ranking all over India. The college basically provides good placement opportunity to all the students. The college have updated syllabus. So I came to IEM Kolkata in 2017 as I got this college from the WBJEE Exam. West Bengal JEE is a state-based entrance examination, so I was keen on taking Electronics and Communication, and for getting ECE or CSE you need to be under 3,000 rank in WBJEE. Apart from Jadavpur University, it was the best I could get so I ended up here. If you are looking for a great college life then don’t come to IEM. Studies are the whole and sole mantra here. There are other activities and fest but you consider yourself lucky if you get chance to study here. You will not have to join a gym, if you are doing engineering from IEM. Our classes were on 9th floor and there is a lift for 10-12 people but there’s always a huge queue in morning and noon so at least thrice a day, you will have to go up and down.
