What Every Student Should Know About SXC Kolkata

Overall Rating
SXC Kolkata is one of the best Colleges in India for the students who want to pursue UG and PG courses. When I first entered in the College, I was confused between B.Sc Economics and B.Com (Hons.). I chose this College and a year later as an economics sophomore, I can proudly say that I do not regret my decision. I really like this College. I can say it with confidence that the academics of our College are good.
 

Academics Rating
I chose B.Sc (Hons.) in Economics. I am interested in the curriculum and the books used in this course. Getting admission in this College is quite tough. It is mandatory for the students to have Math in their class 12th for taking admission in my course. The students can apply online and submit the required documents like scorecard, identity proofs, etc. In each year, two semester exams are conducted such as mid-term exams and end-semester exams. The exams are quite difficult and it consists of application based and reasoning questions.
You can pay the fee in installments. The fee of my course in SXC Kolkata is up to Rs. 85,000/-. The College provides scholarship and financial aid to the students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members of my department have done Ph.D in their respective field. All of our faculties are from West Bengal. They have done specialisation in specific branches too. There is a professor who is teaching Environmental Economics have completed their education from Japan. We have a mentor professors assigned for each semester that we can approach of we have any doubt beyond the syllabus. The teachers always encourage us for writing research papers and articles. They are helpful and supportive despite being strict about attendance at the same time. The teaching methods include blackboards, white boards, projectors, etc.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, SXC Kolkata has placement cell. The cell does a fantastic job by maintaining a portal which offers opportunities, placements, and internships to the students throughout the year. They have also started hosting an annual Internship fest around the month of February and March where companies, startups, and NGOs are invited. The members of the cell often help students to curate resumes, prepare for interviews, and share experiences from their internships. Placements are competitive and various big companies visit our campus such as Zomato, TCS, Meesho, and so on.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the College provides separate hostel facilities to both male and female students. The rooms are available in double and triple occupancy with attached and common washroom. The mess provides 3 meals in a day. Apart from this, various others facilities are also available such as indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The hostels are clean and well maintained. The students are supposed to enter the hostel before 9:00 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
We have a 4 storey building with separate departmental rooms. We have some big rooms with ACs while others do not have it. The campus has computer labs and auditoriums which is equipped with AC facilities. There is an elevator for teachers and disabled students. The College has canteen which provides good food to the students. The library is also there which has all kind of books.
 

Campus Rating
My campus life till now is amazing. The societies are absolutely fantastic. The College conducts various events throughout the year. All types of events from academic conferences to dance, music, drama, etc. to corporate events are conducted by the Commerce and Management allied societies. The College teaches so much beyond the academics. I have enjoyed being a part of Xavier's Consulting club and Xavier's Finance Community. They both did wonders to my personality. Today, I feel much more confident.

    SXC Kolkata has a strong alumni network. The Commerce classes are held in the morning from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. In this College, you are free to do all kinds of training, certificate course, internships, etc. The College conducts various extracurricular activities for the students.     St. Xavier's College is known for its strict academic standards and attendance policies, but what remains unknown is that Xavier's becomes the 6th best Commerce college in India according to the NIRF ranking 2024, because of its infrastructure, culture, academics, discipline and most importantly, the people.
