JNTU Kakinada is a State University

I've applied to limited Universities. This University was my top priority. The reason for choosing it over others is its reputation. It also has a strong alumni network. Another factor why I chose this University is it provides various facilities to the students. Most of the students from our branch are preparing for GATE and SIM exam. According to me, the University should provide more practical exposure to the students. Overall, it is a good University for studies. It is a State University.

The course which I'm studying is B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. There are no certain aspects that influenced me to choose this course. I chose it because of my own interest. Eligibility criteria are that the students must have passed their class 12th boards with 60%. For admission, you have to qualify EAMCET exam and score good rank in it. After that. You have to appear in the counseling. The academics mostly focus on theoretical part. There are only few subjects that prepare us for the real world applications like Microprocessors, Power Electronics, Digital and Analog Electronics. If you are enrolling into the Masters program, then the academics are good. One semester is of 5 months and conducts 2 exams such as mid semester exams and end semester exams. Overall, the academics are good.

The tuition fee of my course is Rs. 45,000/-. The students are required to pay the examination fee separately. The University provides discount to the students who belongs from the reserved category. The students can also avail the Government scholarship.

The faculty members of this University are good. The teachers are approachable during the academic hours. There is a professor named Dr. Raghu. He is very nice and the way he teaches the students is commendable. He has around 32 years of experience and he also provides real life examples to the students. There is an another professor as well named Dr. N. V. Ramana who teaches about the power systems. Most of the teachers have done Ph.D. There is one drawback that the teachers skip some topics because they have to complete the syllabus. My experience with the teachers is good and they solve all the problems of the students. The teacher to student ratio is 1:60.

Yes, JNTU Kakinada has placement cell. The placements are really good for core branches. The students who are in their 4th year are eligible to sit in the placement drive. Around 100+ companies visit the campus to recruit the students. In my course, around 70% of students got on campus placements. I am in my second year right now, I don’t have much idea about what I will do in the future.

Yes, the University offers hostel facilities to the students. There are various hostels and has good accommodation capacity. There are separate hostel for both male and female students. The mess food is quite decent. The students are required to deposit the caution fee of Rs. 10,000/- which is refundable. The mess fee is Rs. 3000/- per month. The male students are required to enter the hostel by 12:00 PM. I don’t have information about the hostel timing of girls. I am day scholar. All this information is provided by my friends.

The campus of JNTU Kakinada is spread over 100 acres of land. The campus has several academic blocks which are dedicated to different departments. It has library which is available 24/7 for the students and it has huge collection of academic books and other resources. The classrooms are average and according to me, they should install a projector in the classrooms so that the students learn and understand the concept better. The University offers sports facilities for games like Cricket, Football, Badminton, etc. My favorite place is the canteen where we talk with our friends and the seniors as well. Overall, the infrastructure is good but there is a room for improvement as well.

Overall, my campus life till is outstanding. Apart from the academics, we have a lot of time to explore other fields as well. There are around 6000 students in our University. There are several clubs such as Ideathon club, Hexawatt club, Blockchain club, Dance club, Music club, Sports club, etc. All these clubs not only provide practical exposure but also help students to improve their communication skills, social life, etc. The University conducts limited fests. It conducts 2 fests, one of them is conducted in the month of September and the other one is organised in the month of April. Fresher’s party is also organised for the students. I am still looking forward to explore the campus life more.
