HRC New Delhi Hostels are Separate for Both Male & Female Students

Having completed almost 3 years at Hansraj College, New Delhi, making my way through all major aspects of College life such as classes, events, societies, exams and experiencing overall crowd, I believe I am fit to comment on each of these. It is known for its high achievers and excellent academic record, which I now know why. Classes are held regularly and extensively, here. however the events do not happen as often, but when they do, they have a lasting impact. For people looking for exposure, there are a myriad of societies/clubs to choose from, some of which are even Internationally recognized like Enactus, IFSA, 180 DC etc. Main factors that motivated me in particular were well maintained labs, acclaimed faculty, and the alumni of this College.

My course is B.Sc (Hons.) in Botany. I enrolled in the course because I come from a PCB background, and wanted to major in Biology. Eligibility for the course is that you must have Biology as one of your subjects in classes 11th and 12th and a preferred Science stream. Admission process was simple enough, as once you are allotted the College through CUET portal; you just have to accept it and then pay the fees through the website. Exams happen every semester, there are internals spawned regularly within the semester and then Mock Practical exams a month prior to final Practical, and then final external practical examination of 80 marks each & then Final Theory exams.

The fees for HRC New Delhi students is pretty much the same i.e. Rs. 26,000/- annually, except for Computer Science students, who pay a slightly higher amount. However, there might be changes year to year. For our batch, for instance, the fees increased a little. Other fee that is to be paid is the exam fee, which is to be paid by every DU student in the Samarth portal, and it is not taken by Colleges. This fee also varies according to your course and how many practical subjects you are undertaking for that particular semester. This exam fee has to be paid every semester. There are various Scholarships available for people in need, economically weaker students and so on.

The faculty teaching us our all experts and renowned in each of their fields, so you are getting the best of the lot, here. Every department has senior Professors then assistant Professors, all ready to help you and very supportive. Every teacher has their own methodology, for instance some of them prefer handwritten notes of their own and the board, while some go with the presentation plus board combination. Group discussion is involved in any and every case, where the teachers are always promoting a healthy discussion among kids. Faculty is very kind, and are always asking us to come out for any help that we might require over the course of time, my tip will be to attend all classes, be attentive and teachers will do nothing but help you get better.

There is an active Placement Cell present in Hansraj College, New Delhi, which has handles on multiple social media platforms. There exists a very organized system to help students acquire a good Placement offer. It starts with an online verification of all the documents and achievements of the students and then provides a portal where the company HRs and students can interact.

The College has separate Girls' as well a Boys' hostels. Hostels have a staff of their own, for cleaning, cooking and other activities. However, I am a day scholar, but my friends from hostel appreciate the hostel atmosphere.

Hansraj College, New Delhi has a diverse crowd and an even more diverse books set in the library. The library has almost every book recommended in the official syllabus of DU. The classrooms are of all sizes. There are ramps present at almost all ground floor locations in the campus for the specially abled. The canteen is always filled to the brim, so goes for the sports ground and other courts like Badminton and Basketball.

The overall campus life comes with its own set of fun and challenges, though every happening only teaches you something, making the overall experience extremely fun. You will find so many different people, at such different places in life, doing such creative activities, and you can find them all in the campus itself & learn so much from them. There is space for everyone here I believe, everybody finds their niche in some time, whether in College fests, classes or maybe sitting in the ground, having your lunch. You must keep yourself open, put yourself out there to learn, and you will not regret it.
