Campus Area of BIT Sindri is Around 450 Acres

It's been more than 2 years since I came to this Institute, the experience that I’ve had in these 2 years have been the best days of my life. BIT Sindri is a government and one of the oldest Institutes of Jharkhand and also of India. Day by day the placement stats are on its best records and increasing. Apart from placement there is a natural kind of exposure that every student gets and more than half of the campus is covered with greenery.

Currently I am enrolled in the Mining Engineering branch & this is my 3rd year. The thing which motivated me for choosing this stream is its placement stats and the job market is less saturated in this industry. The process of admission in this Institute is by JEE Main examinations and you need to secure at least an all India rank of under 1,20,000. We have 8 semesters in which we have 2 mid-term exams and an end-term exam each semester. Apart from classroom knowledge, a two-month vocational training program is also organised each year so that we can have both industrial knowledge as well as experience.

The fee of this Institute is paid annually once in which one is tuition fee and the other one is Pupil Fund which costs Rs. 7732/- and Rs. 7500/-. Apart from this, we only have examination fee which is Rs. 2000/- and it is paid in each semester.

In my course, there are total 8 professors each are highly qualified and having a degree of Ph.D from various IIT as well as having a lot of experience in this field. Many of them have also worked in a PSU for certain time. The problem solving abilities of the faculty is so good that we cannot even judge them. They are publishing their research papers as well, so by this we can understand their level of knowledge. Teacher to student ratio at my branch is around 1:6 and same for other branches though it can vary a bit. Faculty members are very supportive and always ready to help us.

Placement cell of our Institute is quite good. In the recent years, more than 50 companies visited our campus.

There are around 28 hostels in BIT Sindri and there are enough rooms for students. During first and second year, they’ll have to adjust in shared room but after second year they will get separate personal rooms. Some hostels are newly built and some are old and they also have common room for indoor games and also having a space for outdoor games. The mess food quality varies with different hostels, but mostly it has the best food made with proper hygiene. Talking about the hostel fee which is paid annually, we have to pay Rs. 10,000/- as electricity bill and hostel management fee. Apart from this mess food fee is Rs. 4000/- which is paid monthly.

As it is one of the oldest Institutes in India, the infrastructure is before 2000's but after the renovation it looks quite good and the campus size is about 450 acres. All kind of facilities like Medical Health Room, seminar rooms, and others are provided. The classrooms are on the basis of department and classrooms have enough sitting capacity according to students’ strengths. From my point of view it's the best place to explore.

The campus life is the best part of my experience. There are many clubs like Sports club where you can explore many things; various activities are organised by clubs. These clubs helps students develop management skills and act professional. I am also a part of Rotaract club. It is a kind of a Socio-Cultural club which organises many social events.
