IIT Roorkee Average Package is 17.91 LPA (in 2025)

I was joined IIT Roorkee in 2023. I enjoyed being in in first year and explore the culture of IIT Roorkee and My interest. I went through many clubs and sports, NCC, events I feel enjoyed every time. In addition, the academics at Institute are not that much compared to other IITs. In addition, the greenery at Institute is nice. My overall experience at is good. I am much satisfied by my campus life. The location of Institute is good. In addition, the academic life is chill. Seniors treat us like us in decent manner & are always there to guide us. In addition, the night life is awesome.

I am a Civil Engineering student. I have chosen this course as per my interest and there is factor of my JEE Advanced rank. Admission process is simple, first you need to choose Institute in counseling. After that, you need to take some documents in orientation for registration. In addition, you need to deposit fees before the orientation to avoid for late fine. In my course and in every branch of UG (B.Tech) there are one year divided into semesters and per semester, there are two exams out of which, one is Mid-term and other is End-term examinations. In Institute mostly courses are based on real life and practical knowledge so reading and prepare for them is like preparing a real life challenge in future.

Institute fee is needed to pay according to semester it will depend as per every semester. We can say Roughly it is around Rs. 1,40,000/- per semester. This includes everything tuition fees, hostel fees , mess charges, hospital facilities and sports facilities. There is relaxation of tuition fees for ST and SC category which is Rs. 1,00,000/- full fee waiver and it varies with income for OBC and EwS who has family income less than Rs. 1,00,000/- got full fee waiver. In addition, income between Rs. 1,00,000/- to Rs. 5,00,000/-, 2/3 fee waiver on tuition fees. There are many scholarships for the student who has family annual income less than Rs. 5,00,000/- can take one additional Government scholarship with fee waiver.

The faculty members of my course are very awesome. They have lot of experience in their respective field. All the faculty members did their Ph.D from Foreign Universities. The method of teaching of professor is variable as per the need of the subjects. They all deliver the information which we can understand easily. Their problem solving abilities are nice. The total faculty member in my department is around 70 to 80 students and it is a decent number for gaining information about relevant topics. The bonding with faculty is dependent on you as my experience I did some project under professor so I have good interaction.

In my Institution, Placement & Internship Cell is present. It is operated by the student body itself with advisory of professors. During the placements of 2025, average and median packages were 17.91 LPA and 17.64 LPA, respectively.

Yes, we have hostels and the facilities inside the hostel are good. With both girls and boys, hostel separate. In a hostel, around 500 rooms are there. In first year, you get room with a partner and after the first year, you get single room. The facilities inside the hostel are good. There are gym, barber shop, tailor shop, day canteen, night canteen, and mess is available. There is no time boundary entry or exit from hostels. Mess serves food 3 times in a day like breakfast launch dinner with good taste and hygiene. Hostel fee per semester is around Rs. 20,000/-. My experience at hostel is good I learnt lot of new things from hostel life how to manage time, pressure, money all the things start from hostel.

The building IIT Roorkee is old but well-maintain. The structure of these building the very good. In addition, the old academic block has good structure. There is a convocation hall with the capacity of 3000 students at a time. Library of Institute is near by Thomson building. Library has glass walls at 1st floor so the view from there is nice. There is separate ground for every sports. The biggest ground is for cricket & athletics which name is LBS Stadium. The facilities in the academic blocks include AC, projector (with one operating person at every floor), and labs there are 5 to 6 lab assistants in every particular lab.

The overall campus life is nice. I feel very joyful when I am inside the campus. However, most of the students are from UG (B. Tech). There are different types of clubs like tech clubs, cultural clubs, sports clubs, event clubs, and department society. I also joined some clubs currently I am joint secretary of IARC and part of NCC, and 2 other clubs. In Civil Conclave, I am serving as head of sponsorship vertical. There many activities are organized by every clubs. However, the famous events are ‘Thomso’, ‘Cognizance’, & E-Cell Sangraam. The overall experience of my campus life is nice.
