St. Xavier's College B.A Review By Aayushi Choudhary

Established in 2010, St. Xavier College is definitely a good pick for students targeting good-quality higher education in Jaipur. St Xavier’s College was a good choice for me as it was well-equipped with good faculty and had enormous opportunities to tap into. Since the campus shifted to Nevta in 2021, the college has become more spacious and all the cultural activities conducted like the Zest have been a treat to be a part of. I feel the opportunities were unique and the placement opportunities also came from good firms.

I enrolled in St. Xavier’s College Jaipur as a student for BA- Economics Honors in the year 2018. Coming from a humanities background, I had a little difficulty in adjusting to the math curriculum but my teachers were cooperative and gave me proper guidance to overcome the hurdles. The internal exams were also a medium to practice for the finals. Moreover, we also got numerous options of subsidiary subjects to choose from such as public administration, psychology, English literature, etc. We also got various internship opportunities that helped me hone my skills outside the classroom. Moreover, to enhance students’ capabilities and skills, an excellent student exchange program is also conducted for students with many well-reputed colleges such as St. Xavier’s College Kathmandu, St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, and much more.

Our faculty was cooperative, well-qualified, and skillful. We had easy access to them during any doubts or queries even during Covid times. While some of them were already Ph.D. qualified, some of them were pursuing their Ph.D. simultaneously. As per my experiences, every task assigned to us was vividly explained by the respective professors and proper help was provided.

At our college, a training and placement cell is used to take care of the placements for students. The placement cell was responsible for guiding students and training them for good placements. However, I think the placement rate for the college is only decent but not excellent and you have to stand out from the pool of students in order to get some good placements.

St. Xavier’s College, Jaipur used to have its own hostel services previously but it has now outsourced its hostel services to a third party. The hostel is nearby to the college and has all the facilities ranging from AC to a gym. One can opt for staying in a hostel if they stay far away. The rooms at the hostel are clean and spacious and one can opt for an AC or non-AC room as per their requirements.

When I joined the college in the year 2018, our campus was situated at Hathroi, MI road, Jaipur. The campus at Hathroi was not so spacious and had limited availability of classrooms and only had one library on the first floor. The cafeteria was also very compact and it sometimes became difficult to have lunch without hassles at such a small campus. Moreover, there were some parking issues as well. But, since 2020, the campus has been shifted to Nevta. It is no doubt one of the best college campuses in Jaipur. It is well-equipped with a huge library and a beautiful lawn. The classrooms have also become very spacious and the canteen is a good and cozy escape during breaks after classes. Rest assured, the parking facility at the new campus is commendable and one can easily park their car at the campus without any hassle. One can also find a well-equipped IT lab, a spacious auditorium and a beautiful sports complex on campus.

With numerous clubs and student organizations, one can surely acquire a lot at Xavier. Not only this, but for students interested in various cultural events, ZEST is the cultural fest at the college in which the college hosts students from all over the country and abroad each year studying in various colleges and universities. Zest is a 2 days event that incorporates various academic and co-curricular events for students and is also quite famous amongst Jaipurities.
