Infrastructure of SXC Jaipur: A Green Campus with Advanced Facilities

Joining St. Xavier's College, Jaipur was one of the best decisions of my life. The infrastructure of the campus, faculty and management were very welcoming. The environment of the college always remained very lively, as the college not only focuses on academics but also give equal weightage to the extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. It is one of the most energetic and diverse-friendly campuses in the state. The differentiator is the focus on Interdisciplinary participation and cultural enthusiasm. The campus is serene with equal ratio of green patch and building patch. I have made some good and unforgettable memories here.

When I completed my B.Sc (Biological Sciences), I was well versed with almost every concept of the subject and was ready to pursue a Post-Graduation or step my foot into the research world. The admission procedure was very smooth wherein I also received one-on-one mentorship from the Head of Department. The teachers were very knowledgeable and had various publications to their name, which helped us to understand the subject in depth without much effort. The institute also conducted internal exams quarterly, which helped us to complete our syllabus before hand and revise thoroughly before our final examinations.

The fee for the course was in the range Rs. 1,45,000 to Rs. 1,55,000 which were collected yearly. Scholarships are also provided to the students based on merit, need and exceptional achievements, such as National or State participation in sports and various other similar distinctions.

The faculty members of SXC Jaipur were one of the best, as they not only made us well equipped with the subject, they tried to maintain a good and friendly bond with us by conducting Mentor-mentee sessions. All of the faculty members were well qualified and had a PhD and some good amount of experience in the industry too. I enjoyed and loved to study from all of them as they always kept the environment of the class lively and engaging. Despite facing some issues in adjusting to the new environment at the beginning of the course, eventually we all (students) settled in and made the most out of our college life. Our teachers played a big role in making us feel comfortable to the new environment.

A dedicated placement and training cell is there in the college, which is managed by both the student and the management body. It is responsible for making students ready to step foot into the job, research, and business industry. It has organized various events focusing on how to inculcate skills in students to make them proficient in the sector they get into.

College offers hostel facilities for all the students who are in need of the same. Girls Hostel is situated in the campus building while boys hostel is situated in nearby apartments, transport facility is provided for the students to commute.

The campus of SXC Jaipur includes an Academic block, Canteen, Parking lot for all kinds of vehicles, Gardens, Auditorium, Sports complex with Basketball court, Cricket ground, Football ground, and rainwater collection systems. The campus follows a policy of green and sustainable environment by maintaining 40:60 as its green patch to building patch ratio. It has one of the most technologically advanced library with Kiosks for maintaining library and student records. Moreover, the classrooms are spacious and well ventilated, from them we can enjoy the Nevta Dam view situated right behind the institute. The campus fosters not only human life but also flora and fauna as it is the home of numerous number of plants, tress, birds, fishes and many more. Being a Life Sciences student, I have learned more from the campus than the books as the institute has a dedicated garden of various species of flowering plants known as ‘Ayush Udyaan’. The science lab, on the other hand, has made me familiar with scientific tools and machinery. But my favorite place in the campus was the Auditorium, as I have practiced, performed, learned, laughed, played, and made numerous bonds with my teachers, batch mates, juniors and seniors. All the time spent over there still makes me happy and nostalgic.

My college journey was filled with energy, lots of learning and lessons. The most significant lesson that I learned in my college was to grab every opportunity that is available, as it will not only help in improving you skills, but would contribute in holistic development of the person. SXCJ is known for its Cultural fests, Symposiums, International conferences, Sports competitions, Site visits, Debate competitions, Department fests, and the list goes on. I have served as the Head of Research of the Xavier's Intellectual Forum, a club dedicated to student wellbeing in all prospects. I have been a part of the Cultural Committee of ZEST (College annual fest) that resulted into various learnings such as public speaking, event management, people management and leadership skills. These activities led me to make some amazing bonds with my team members and helped me grow as a responsible and lively individual.
