St. Xavier's College B.A Review By Kanishka Bagra

St. Xaviers College, Jaipur (Nevta) initially had 2 campuses: one in Hathroi and other in Nevta, both affiliated to Rajasthan University. I opted for the latter as it was more appealing to me in terms of its area, crowd and faculty. As it was a new college, there were only a few UG programs such as BA, BBA, BCA, B.Com, etc in which I enrolled in BA. There were only few hundred people in the whole college including faculty as it was a freshly started college. It was a good thing for me as I was able to understand the new aspects of college life better as there were only 15 students in my course. It was a great learning source both academically and in terms of personality development too.

I was enrolled in BA which had 120 seats and based on first come basis. The academics in Xavier's were not always classroom based but were also based on workshops and seminars by trained guests and faculty which I think was a great excitement for us back then. We were made to take part in various seminars by highly designated guests from other institutes also.

The faculty in Xavier's, Nevta was a freshly recruited staff all with years of experience in their respective domains. They were highly professional individuals and great mentors who taught us not only the bookish concepts but also their real-life applications. We had direct access to the administrative staff which made the student and college link more transparent, eliminating the three to four tier systems of complaints, suggestions. The teachers listened to us and welcomed our feedbacks greatly.

The hostel was situated on the 4th floor of the college building and had different domes for both boys and girls, which was later changed to other building in the college premises only.

The College is situated in a remote area with a view of Nevta dam in the back. It has a large campus with 4 floors and 2 wings with access to lifts on both sides and 2 set of staircases providing an easy movement within the building. The college had its accommodation facility and provided buses on every route free of cost. Every classroom has projectors for smart learning. A library with all the books in need with its own app to provide a vast knowledge basis to all. Access to computer labs, science labs with latest technologies and equipment. It has a lush green campus with sports area, a canteen, an auditorium, large parking area and large ventilated classrooms. St. Xavier's school is also present in the same premises but separated by different gates.

Life at Xavier's is both fun and learning together. The main event of Xaviers is ZEST, which are a three-day event including 50+ events in different domains. Several students from all over India take part in these events followed by cultural night. The college has several clubs which organizes an event every week and on every occasion. It also organizes Inter-departmental competitions in dancing, theatre, music, etc providing students to take part in extracurricular activities also. It has different programs like NSS, Rangers and Rovers, AICUF which conduct activities for welfare too.
