Reality of IIIT Una

Overall Rating
In addition to my JEE ranking, I decided this college based on a number of factors. A friend of mine studying at IIITA recommended it to me, as well as a senior who I met through Instagram. According to them, this college is a good choice if you want a stress-free, green environment. Moreover, the infrastructure and lab facilities are excellent.
 

Academics Rating
There are three branches in this college i.e., CSE, IT, and ECE. You require rank varying from 23k to 40k in JOSAA to get entry into any one of the above-mentioned branches. The class size is 69 students per branch, so students get enough personal attention from the teachers. Also, the college assigns mentors to students for any kind of development the student needs (With a single mentor to 6 students, 2 from each branch).
 

Faculty Rating
The professors are quite proficient in their respective fields with the exception of a few and the lab assistants are also quite good. Most of the professors are PhD in their respective fields and teach quite practically. The college uses both the blackboard-chalk method and presentation method for teaching.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a Placement Cell that is currently in progress, but it still provides mentorship to students through various workshops and personal classes for students from 3rd and final year.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostels are quite good as compared to the situations of hostels in Indian engineering colleges. There are 3 hostels, called Jathragni (for fresher boys), Bhutagni (for final year students and for girls of all years) and Chitagni (for 2nd and 3rd year boys). All of them has all basic facilities like bathrooms, toilets, water coolers and mess. There are 2 vegetarian messes and 1 non vegetarian mess, and they provide really good food.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of this college is best as its newly built. There are separate buildings for academics and for administration. The labs are quite good with all necessary requirements. Like there are labs for electronics, English and communication, computer lab and electrical and chemical labs. Also, the students are given the facility of library for 9 am to 5 pm every day and a special study room which is open for 9 am to 12 AM during the exam times.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life here is top notch. The temperature in this region varies from 2 to 8 degree Celsius in winters to 35 to 42 degrees Celsius in summers. During normal times, the temperature remains in between 23 to 30 degrees. There are many clubs here like Meraki is the technical fest, mridang is the cultural fest. They are held every September. With the one in 2023 being the 2nd edition of IIIT Una's fest. Also, there are clubs like pixel (for photography), Eunoia (for event management), force (for coding), aavesh (for electronics).

    The journey started from my JEE preparation when I didn't worked much hard to be honest so my JEE mains rank was around 27000 (crl), so as per my interest in Information Technology, I had to find the best college according to my rank and IIIT UNA is the best growing college it is growing rapidly even its growth rate is much higher than some established NITs so this was the main reason to join this college and till now my expectations are fully matched I'm totally satisfied with the college in so...   • Truth about IIIT UNA!

    Everything is good as much as I experienced. It has a permanent campus which many new IIITs lag in also placements are decent not good not bad. Faculty is also good most are PhD holders only some exceptions are there. Hostel facility is also good here. Overall if we see it's a good option for the one who has decent JEE rank (25k-30k)....   • A Mediocre college

    My overall experience at this college has been from mediocre to worse. The college facilities are nowhere to be seen but the faculty is very good and well equipped with PhD degrees. I chose this particular college because it has good connectivity as well as permanent campus and it is near to my home which is just a bonus.     Like any other IIIT the admission is done through JEE mains and JOSAA counseling followed by CSAB special round. After counseling the overall experience is okay, the seniors here are very chill and always ready to help. The college is situated at a very peaceful place and very close to tourist destinations like dharamshala and Shimla etc. Academics are given high priority here but still many sports event and extra-curricular event have been organised.   • Is joining IIIT UNA worth it or not ?

    The overall experience here is good but not that outstanding as other NITs. I chose this particular college because I had a keen interest in coding and programming, game development, etc. And this was the best option as per my rank for IT branch. Here in the campus the environment is very good, seniors are helpful and there is no ragging such things.
