Overall Rating
I am a student in Integrated Master of Technology in Mathematics and Computing course offered by IIT ISM Dhanbad. Before I knew much how college works and college life, I chose this college based on placement stats and for the IIT tag. But now that I am exposed to the ground reality. I am happy that I didn't not picked other colleges as this college has a very great environment for overall growth of a student.
 

Academics Rating
JEE Advanced qualified students with ranks above the cutoff are eligible for admission in this course. My motive for enrolling was placement stats and IIT tag. But now my view is changed as placement is not the only thing important in a college. As for academics, this college has everything from proper labs to smart classrooms, great professor and teaching assistants. Our seniors also guide us on how to score good marks as well as how to develop skills for placements.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members are good, they thoroughly teach a subject from basic JEE level to high level. They provide proper questions, materials and quizzes timely. They always welcome any doubt that students have with proper explanation. The professors are highly qualified and will gladly help you if you have need any help in anything related to their subject be it any question or suggestion on a project you are making etc.
 

Placement Rating
We have a placement cell in our college which is really active. Our news and media club "mailer daemon" is always posting stories about jobs and interns of our seniors in all the major companies like Amazon, Google etc. All great companies come to our college. We have a very strong alumni network so getting placed in companies on or off campus is easier compared to other colleges.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels have all the basic necessities and new hostels are being made to accommodate students. Hostels have proper mess serving non-veg and vegan food, common room, basket ball and badminton court etc. Hostels have 24*7 accesses to LAN internet, electricity, and clean water. Paid laundry services are also available at cheap rates; snack and food shops are also there in college which is open till 1:30 AM in the night for those late night snacks.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The entire required infrastructure is present in the college. Such as lecture halls, labs, workshops, departmental buildings, academic block with all the science related branches advanced labs, library, management office, hostels, student activity center which houses rooms for every technical or cultural club or sports clubs, sports grounds/courts for outdoor sports, swimming pool, I2H and NVCTI building which nurtures innovation and technical clubs and provides them with all the guidance or financial support.
 

Campus Rating
IIT (ISM) Dhanbad offers a vibrant campus life with diverse clubs in all categories be it just fun or technical or cultural or sports. The crowd is also good and the campus is ragging free. We have 3 fests i.e. Concetto (techo-management), Srijan (cultural), and Prakaram (sports) and each fests have many events related to each field. Each club conducts its own event in fest often more than one. Also activities like dance performances, stage plays, and treasure hunts happen throughout the year.

    I have experienced a good atmosphere at this university, which helps me to have self-confidence. I opted for this institute as it is in the middle of the town unlike other institutions, which were quite in the outskirts of cities. It also has great facilities like any other IIT and so helps in boosting one's career. It is quite famous and old. It was established in 1926 and so soon, it is going to have a century....     Our institute is one of the oldest institutes with an NIRF rank of 15th in engineering category. It recently was labeled as IIT. The existing institute campus area is about 218 acres consisting of 15 hostels occupied by students enrolled in various courses (Ph.D, B.Tech, M. Tech, etc). Also, there is a Student Activity Centre (SAC) which allows students interested in sports / acting / singing / dancing / swimming to engage themselves in their hobbies.   • Reasons to Choose ECE at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

    For me, I have just completed my first semester here and starting to fall in love with my institute. The rain and the red color of ISM combine to probably give the best view. Not very big campus but still it seems largest when you are running late for the labs and classes. RD, Mehzban, Dominos, Barista are there to address the food craving monster inside you.     First of all it should be remembered that it's ISM before IIT. Overall experience is better. As a South Indian I felt difficult to connect with Hindi language and also to the food as most of our diet is filled with potato. The experience about studies is good.
