The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) program offered by Poona College of Pharmacy is a fulltime, on-campus course having 4-year duration. This undergraduate program which has the approval of PCI offers students a solid grounding on pharmaceutical sciences. After students successfully complete the program, they receive a B. Pharm. The degree which enables them to pursue an M. Pharm. Course or apply for a job.
This curriculum of the bachelor program in pharmacy has been devised in such a way that it enables students to effectively imbibe pharmacy knowledge. At the same time, this undergraduate course equips students with the skills required for practicing competently in the pharmaceutical industry. The acquired skills also help the pupils to carry out high-level pharmaceutical research.
The highly advanced and sophisticated infrastructure goes a long way in enabling students to make the most of hands-on training. The practical training arms the learners with the acumen and expertise needed for confidently tackling challenges prevailing in the pharmacy industry. Candidates interested to apply to this program must pass the 10+2/Intermediate examination with chemistry, physics, and English as compulsory subjects.
M. Pharm. (Master of Pharmacy)
Once students earn a B. Pharm. Certification, they can choose to pursue higher education by applying for the M. Pharm Program. The Poona College of Pharmacy’s Master of Pharmacy course is a two-year program, allowing students to specialize in any of the seven branches of pharmacy. A student can decide to specialize in pharmaceutical biotechnology, drug regulatory affairs, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, and quality assurance techniques. This postgraduate course in pharmacy is a fulltime course for which students attend classes in the college.
Pharmacy graduates intending to apply to this master's degree course must have attained at least 55% marks in aggregate in the B. Pharm examination. Students will also have to clear the PHARMPG examination and secure the prescribed cut-off marks for securing admission.
Pharm. D. (Doctor of Pharmacy)
The Doctor or Pharmacy or Pharm. D. course is a doctorate course with a study period of six years. The Pharm. D. program is a fulltime, on-campus course where aspirants receive inclusive pharmaceutical education, eventually earning a Doctor of Pharmacy certification. The students take advantage of applied training techniques that ultimately enable them to confront the challenges of pharmaceutical care and drug discovery.
The learners also pick up skills for integrating skills and wisdom with clinical research with a view to foster healthcare. An applicant for this doctorate/M. Phil program must clear the 10+2 examination with chemistry and physics as mandatory subjects and Biology or Mathematics as an elective. Additionally, students will have to possess a D. Pharm certificate of a pharmacy institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.
