IIT Dharwad Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

Since it is a new campus, everything is modern and classrooms have projectors, Wi-Fi, LAN ports, etc. Labs are getting continuously upgraded. Library is the most beautiful building amongst all of the buildings that have been made till now. All types of comfortable chairs, sofas and tables are present in the library with 24/7 internet facilities. Library also has a viewing tower from where you can see the entire campus at once and in fact, this viewing point is the highest point in entire Dharwad. The campus has a sports ground, a Volley-Ball court, 2 Basket-Ball courts, and Badminton courts. There is also a wellness centre in the campus, where basic treatment is provided for free. The Institute’s buses regularly commute between Dharwad city and the campus 9-10 times a day. Mostly people inside the campus walk or use cycles for their day-to-day life. Overall infrastructure is nice and getting better.

Campus life of IIT Dharwad is relaxed and friendly. Because the batch size is small, you'll know almost everyone by face. Fests are small scale right now, but are fun and slowly getting better. There is no ragging; everyone here is supportive. The clubs are active and functioning, we have Tech Clubs like Coding Club, Robotics Club, etc. a Finance Club called ‘Insolvent’, Sports Clubs like Cricket Club, Hockey Club, Football Club, etc. and Cultural Clubs like Music and Singing Club, Dance Club, Photography and Films Club. The campus size is about 470 acres. There is Central Learning Theatre where regular classes happen. There are academic blocks, where there are laboratories, classrooms and different scientific instruments for performing scientific experiments. Library is there for books and reading. Campus is 10-12 Km away from the main city so there is shortage of vehicles from campus to city. There are different classrooms with capacity range 70-150. There are projectors through which faculties teach by presentations and videos. Auditorium is there with capacity of 500 people. Ground is there for playing football (with nets), basketball court and cricket ground is also there. Indoor common facility of table tennis, badminton, squash and GYM is present. Every year General Championship (GC) happens every year between hostel wings. Canteen is present, where you get different dishes with good quality. Wellness centre is present, doctors visit daily and it stays open 24/7. Centre of attraction of the whole campus is Library.

My overall campus life is good. Campus is not much crowded, there are about 1,500 students present including B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD students. There are many clubs in IIT Dharwad like Coding Club, Robotics Club, Motor Sports Club, Photography Club, Finance Club, etc. I am part of Coding Club. These clubs organise various events through which students earn valuable knowledge. Here, all building is newly built and their furniture is new and great. Labs are very well equipped, you will not face any difficulty in labs regularly like power or instruments are missing. Classes are well equipping with monitors, projects, and other things to make student life easy, and give best teaching. We too have some cons in it. We have more than half campus is under construction. Outdoors sports facilities are not available in permanent campus.

Our campus is spreaded in 470 acres of land at Kelageri village adjunct to Mammigahtti Industrial Area in Dharwad. We have more than 15 clubs and don’t require too much knowledge to join a club. Even if you are a newbie than you can be part of it. Engaging activities are always going now in campus in some form or other. Fests are also good. Here also few cons, there is no proper boys to girl ratio. No proper or essential services available inside campus such salon, laundry, printing shop, etc.Read Full Review
