IISc Bangalore

IISc Bangalore has established an Office of Career Counselling and Placement (OCCaP). It is dedicated to providing adequate professional training to the students and for coordinating with the companies and conducting IISc Bangalore Placement drives.

Students are facilitated with Internship opportunities so that they can get an industrial exposure and make a strong industrial network. Some of the events that are organised for enlightening the students about the industrial standards and assist them in choosing their career goals are:

Prominent companies that have previously recruited students from the University include Texas Instruments, IBM, Flipkart, Micron, Western Digital, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Havells, Qualcomm, Google, Microsoft, Netradyne, Mercedes-Benz, Observe.AI, Eightfold AI, Master Card, Samsung, Nykaa, Bajaj, Intel, Reliance Industries, and much more.

IISc Bangalore is developed on a land area of over 440 acres. It is well-equipped with world-class educational and research facilities to provide a comprehensive learning experience to the students.

The classrooms & lecture halls of the Deemed University have the latest multimedia teaching aids like LCD projector, motorised screen, audio systems, and much more. Additionally, inside the IISc Bangalore Campus, the following amenities are available for the students:

• Library: The ‘J.R.D. Tata Memorial Library’, also known as the ‘Indian Institute of Science Library’ has a huge assortment of educational and research study materials including books, monographs, periodicals, journals, theses, back volumes, technical reports, rare reference materials, and so on in print and digital formats.
  Students are provided with digital library facilities and access to e-learning platforms like e-ShodhSindhu Consortium (INFLIBNET), and several others. Other facilities include photocopy service, reference, document delivery, and so on. Besides this, departmental libraries are also available for students for a quick access to the specialised learning resources.
• Laboratories: There is a ‘Supercomputing Education and Research Centre (SERC)’ under which various computer labs / rooms are functional 24/7. It provides computing facilities across the campus to the students and faculty members to fulfil their academic and research needs.
  Apart from this, the IISc Bangalore has many dedicated departmental laboratories and they are equipped with modern research equipment that enhances the practical skills of the students. Some of the labs are given below:

• Auditorium: Within the premises, there are many auditoriums including an open-air auditorium present at the University’s campus and have the latest audio-visual and lighting aids for hosting various academic, cultural, and co-curricular events.
  Some of the venues include ‘JN Tata Auditorium’, ‘Satish Dhawan Auditorium’, ‘Material Research Centre (MRC) Auditorium’, etc. that have an accommodation capacity of around 750, 250, and 160 students, respectively.
• Seminar Hall: The National Science Seminar Complex (NSSC) comprises multiple seminar halls of varying seating capacities. Apart from this, ‘CDS Seminar Hall’, and ‘RBCCPS Seminar Hall’, to name a few, are present in the campus that are equipped with adequate AV amenities and can accommodate nearly 93, and 45 students, respectively.
• Conference Room: Many conference rooms with LCD projector and teleconferencing facilities are there at the premises wherein conferences and related academic gatherings are held.
• Eateries: Many eateries / food outlets are there at various locations inside the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore wherein students and faculty members are served with different options of dishes, snacks, and beverages.
  Some of the eateries include ‘Nesara Restaurant’, ‘Kabini Canteen’, ‘Sarvam Canteen’, a tea kiosk, a food truck, etc. Additionally, a snack parlour is located at the gymkhana where students are provided with coffee, soft drinks, snacks, etc.
• Hostel: Many separate residential spaces for girls, boys, and married students have been built by the University in its campus. The accommodation capacity of these IISc Bangalore Hostel complexes is more than 3000 students; some of the spaces are named ‘Dr. Sitaram Jindal Ladies Hostel Block’ and ‘Mrigasira Boys Hostel’.
  The hostel rooms are fully-equipped with essential amenities.
  Also, there are around 4 vegetarian and composite messes along with dining hall facilities. Other amenities available for boarders include bakery, pharmacy, common rooms, game rooms, parking, and the list continues.
• Sports: At IISc Bangalore, students are provided with a range of sports facilities so that they can actively engage in physical activities and can focus better in their studies. Indoor sports amenities include a Gymkhana, Swimming Pool, Indoor Courts, and facilities for Badminton, Table Tennis, Karate, Billiards, Carrom, Chess, Taekwondo, and so on.
  Other than this, a Cinder Track, Grounds, and Courts are present for Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Basketball and more. A gymnasium that has the latest training & exercise equipment is also available for students to maintain their physical health.
• Transportation: Transportation facilities are available for the students of the Deemed University to travel inside the campus.
• Medical Facilities: IISc Bangalore has a ‘Health Centre’ that has the necessary equipment and facilities. Here, trained medical professionals are available to provide prompt primary and major medical assistance to the students.
  Round the clock ambulance service is available for emergency medical situations.
• Other Facilities: Faculty Halls, Banks, ATMs, Servam Complex, Super Market, Campus Book House, Post Office, Amenities Hall, VC Room, Xerox Centres, Guest House, and other such facilities are offered to students at the campus.
