IISc Bangalore Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules

To offer reliable & secure accommodation facilities to collectively over 3000 male & female students, multiple gender-specific IISc Bangalore hostel blocks are there inside the campus including ‘Dr. Sitaram Jindal Ladies Hostel Block’, ‘Aryabhatta Boys Hostel’, and others.

Basic amenities like a cot, shelf, and others are present within the spacious single & double occupancy hostel rooms available inside the premises of IISc Bangalore so that students will not have to face any kind of discomfort during their stay. Also, the per month IISc Bangalore hostel fees range from Rs. 100/- to Rs. 2,000/-.

The hostel authorities have prescribed a fee for the students who are willing to avail the accommodation facilities which is compulsory for them to deposit and it varies on the basis of opted academic program, room occupancy, and their category. * Apart from the aforementioned fee, students will have to pay several other charges like mess amenities, establishment, electricity & water, and so on separately. Also, a married apartment i.e., ‘Kapila’ is also there on-campus and per month fee of the same for all the students is Rs. 1,800/-.

Students should be well-informed that they will have to compulsorily follow the specified rules in order to stay at the IISc Bangalore hostels to maintain discipline. There are multiple guidelines for the residents and few of these are stated below:

• Hostellers should strictly avoid disturbing other inmates.
• All types of ragging are banned within the hostel premises and residents should not indulge in such acts.
• Smoking or consuming / storing alcoholic items are not allowed and strict actions will be taken against the hostellers found guilty.
• Students should be well-acquainted that they are not permitted to cook inside the hostel room under any consequences.
• Without taking official permission, residents should not allow any guest / visitor to enter their rooms.
• Students staying at the hostels should avoid wastage of food, water & electricity and they are advised to utilise these resources wisely otherwise they will be liable to face strict repercussions.
• Hostellers are not allowed to play in the corridors of the hostel premises.

A large number of hostel blocks for both boys & girls are there inside the huge & well-maintained IISc Bangalore Campus including ‘Dr. Sitaram Jindal Ladies Hostel Block’, ‘R Block Boys Hostel’, ‘Tunga Girls Hostel’, ‘Aryabhatta Boys Hostel’, and others. The respective authorities have taken adequate safety measures to make the residents feel safe & secure within the hostel premises.

The IISc Bangalore hostel rooms comprise a cot, shelf, study table, and chair for the students in order to meet their everyday requirements. Also, there is a huge hostel complex which features small utility shops including pharmacy, laundry, and many others so that students can access essential amenities in close proximity.

• Breakfast: 07:30 AM to 09:30 AM
• Lunch: 12:00 Noon to 01:30 PM
• Tea: 04:30 PM to 06:00 PM
• Dinner: 07:30 PM to 09:30 PM

Few of the mess rules that students should know are stated below:

• Food will not be served inside the hostel rooms except for sick students with written permission from the chief medical official of the available health centre.
• Hostellers should make sure to maintain decorum within the mess / dining halls.
• It is essential for the students staying at the University’s hostel to be a member of the mess.
• In case, residents will stay absent from the mess then they should inform one day in advance and they can do the same by recording ‘sign-off’ at the mess.
