Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management was established in 1997. It was set up by the Government of India, MHRD as an autonomous institute. It was started as IIITM and in 2002 the institute was renamed as ABV-IIITM. The institute was established with the objective to facilitate research, consultancy, and higher education in business management and information technology. It is an Institute of National Importance which provides learning opportunities and education to the students and develops customised support services and innovative programs catering to the current market demands.

ABV-IIITM has a Career Development and Placement Cell (CDP Cell) which assists, supports, and guides the students. The Cell provides training which helps the students to enhance their skills. It conducts mock interviews, group sessions and organises seminars, workshops, conferences, etc. It ensures that the students are provided with adequate opportunities which help them in utilising their knowledge, skills, and talent.

The institute is situated at Morena Link Road which is at a distance of 8.5 kms from Rajmata Vijay Raje Scindia City Airport and at a distance of 3.5 kms from Gwalior Railway Station. It is located on the foothills of Gwalior Fort and is accessible by road. The market places and shopping centers are approximately at 10-12 minutes of driving distance from the campus.
