DIT University Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules, Dehradun

There are two girls' hostel buildings at the University. The hostel blocks were of 5 floors and the rooms were more of an apartment. The first-year students are provided Sarojini Hostel that has a 3-seater apartment and from 2nd year onwards, we can move to 'Kasturba Hostel' which is bigger and better. The rooms of Kasturba are bigger than that of Sarojini hostels and also only 2 students are allowed to stay in Kasturba hostel rooms. The girls' hostel capacity was huge as Kasturba hostel had capacity of600 girls and Sarojini too had almost the similar capacity. Food provided was also great, but it was the curfew time that I had some issues with. 7 pm for girls and 9 pm for boys. For PG students there was a Bose Hostel at the campus as it had single bed rooms. There were some other hostels. Boys' hostels too like the Raman Hostel, and Sarabhai Hostel, etc. There were two girls' hostels as well at the campus and one of them was Sarojini hostel that had studio apartments. So, for those who wanted to organize the rooms they want, the studio apartment worked the best. The apartment also had kitchen along. There were dining halls but having food from the mess was not a compulsion.Read Full Review

The hostels were divided well enough, as UG students had their own hostels and PG their hostels. For the first two years, I stayed at the junior hostels of the campus, which was 'Sarabhai Hostel'. Most hostels were the same; junior hostels had triple sharing rooms, while some hostels had single rooms. I was never in favor of staying along, as one can have fun at the hostel while they are teenagers. With hostel life, I have no complaints, but with food I do. Luckily, at some distance we had numerous food joints that took complete care of us, whenever the hostel food was below par.Read Full Review
