DIT University Dehradun

Established in 1998 as Dehradun Institute of Technology, the DIT University was later granted the State Private University status in 2013. Located at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, the University is approved by UGC.

It is recognised by PCI, INC, AIU, Council of Architecture (COA), Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) & Indian Association of Universities (IAU) and accredited by NAAC. The DIT Dehradun is also International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certified.

The University is known for its emphasis on attaining excellence in academics & research. The DIT University course admissions are offered at an affordable fee structure for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, and Doctoral levels programs.

It has around 9 Schools & Colleges; few of them are School of Design, College of Nursing, School of Engineering & Technology and College of Healthcare Professions.

• In 2024, DIT Dehradun was secured at 81^st rank in the ‘Pharmacy’ category and secured position on a rank band of 201-300 in the ‘Engineering Category’ by NIRF.
• Ranked on a band of 1001-2000 under Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2025.
• Secured 23^rd position in the ‘Top 160 Private Engineering Institutes’ and 14^th rank in the ‘Top 30 Private Architecture Institutes’ category under Outlook-ICARE Ranking
• Received ARIIA Ranking in 2021 on a band ‘Performer’ under the ‘University (Private / Self-Financed) (Technical)’ category.

* The above-mentioned fee of UG & PG programs differs for each year. Moreover, the fee structure for the native students of the Uttarakhand State is different.

Admission Process

At the University, admission seats are allotted to the students based on their merit marks in the requisite qualifying exam, State or National level entrance test / DUET, and group discussion & personal interview as applicable to the respective program.

Students can apply for DIT University course admissions through offline (by visiting the campus) & online (via official website) modes.

Note: Direct admission through on-campus counseling will be offered to the Class 12^th board toppers who have secured more than 95% marks.

Reservation Criteria

Admission seats are allotted to the students by the DIT Dehradun on the basis of reservation criteria, specified by the authorities.

The DIT Dehradun awards numerous scholarship schemes in order to encourage the meritorious and financially weak students to pursue higher education. Some of the scholarships that the eligible students can take advantage of are discussed below in detail:

Merit Based Scholarship

The Merit scholarship will be offered during admission to the Undergraduate students in the form of tuition fee waiver based on their merit marks in the respective subjects.

For B.Tech (Information Technology)

For B.Tech (IT), the students will be granted the merit-based scholarship based on their marks in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry / Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Information Practices / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies / Entrepreneurship in 12^th Standard or on the basis of JEE rank.

On the basis of CUET

Students looking forward to take admission in the UG courses can avail scholarship on the basis of their merit marks in the CUET; the details are mentioned-below:

Uttarakhand / Other Himalayan States Scholarship

Students who have a domicile of Uttarakhand / other Himalayan States will be granted 25% of scholarship on their tuition fee.

Few of the other scholarship schemes offered to the students belonging to following category:

• For Children of Defence Personnel (Indian Army / Indian Air Force / Indian Navy / Indian Coast Guards / Paramilitary Forces including CAPF (AC).
• For graduating students on opting for a higher programme at University.
• For the children of employees of the DIT University.
• Scholarship on the basis of performance in sports.
