RMC is a private institute and it offers degrees in courses like MD/MS, DM/M.Ch., Ph.D., and few Fellowship courses. The institute is running several departments under its supervision such as the Department of Anatomy, Department of Physiology, Department of Pathology, Department of Forensic Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, etc.
Students can pursue their academic careers at this institute by qualifying in the selection process, which is different for each subject. For DM/M.Ch, or MD/MS programs, the seats are allotted via merit list by Karnataka Examination Authority through online counseling sessions. Ramaiah Medical College began offering medical programs and courses from the year 1979 from its campus in Bangalore. This medical college is one of the 21 institutions owned and operated by ‘The Ramaiah Group’. Sri M. S. Ramaiah is the late founder chairman of The Ramaiah Group of Institutions.
All healthcare and education institutes of this group are situated inside the sprawling and verdant 70-acre campus in Bangalore. The Ramaiah Group also established a hospital (Ramaiah Medical College Hospital) in the year 1984 for training the internees of RMC. The 1,331-bedded hospital is equipped with facilities for providing services under all medical super specialties.
