I reside in the ‘Brahmaputra Hostel’ which is the oldest and largest boys’ hostel in the campus. With more than a 1000 residents, around 200 comprise of freshers alone. There are separate hostels for girls’ and boys’. The mess is known for its great standard in food and even attracts dormers from other hostels. Our hostels provide us with a lot of amenities including gym, game room, music room, library, TV room, etc. As a fresher you are expected to return to the hostel premises by 10 PM for the first three months. You have to stay in Institute hostel if you are a outstation student. The quality of hostel infrastructure depends on the hostel you are allotted with, the allotment is random at first but then you can change it, once approved by hostel affairs board. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. Mess food can be improved and the taste of food varies across different hostels. The fee of hostel is somewhat around Rs. 10,000/- and the mess is fee currently Rs. 22,000/- per semester. There are no rules for timings; you can go outside at any time. My hostel is average since the rooms that we are allotted with in this hostel are quite small for a 2 seater room.Read Full Review
