Highest Package of IIT Guwahati is 250 LPA

My overall experience is kind of good. I chose this Institute because of its beautiful campus, high placement rate, nice exposure and its proximity to my home. It is located in Northeast India. IIT Guwahati emphasizes on cultural and sports activities a lot. The induction programme spans for a week to help students become familiar to the Institute.

I have chosen Chemical Science and Technology branch at this Institute. This branch is relatively less hectic and has less work load as compared to other non-technical branches which will allow me to engage in other activities like coding, learning guitar and going to the gym. To get admission at the Institute, you have to clear Jee Advanced Exam with around 8000 general rank (the cut-off rank differs for different categories). You have to be in the top 20% of students for your respective examination board. Then, you have to visit the Institute and preceed with further formalities like document verification, medical test and more. Mid-semester exams will also be conducted. There are four mid-semester exams in a year.

I am an OBC NCL candidate coming from a background of a family with the total income ranging from Rs. 1,00,000/- to Rs. 5,00,000/-, and due to these factors, I had to pay around Rs. 99,333/- for 1st Semester and for the rest of the semesters I had to pay around Rs. 74,000/-. The fee includes tuition fee, mess fee, hostel fee, admission fee, new semester admission fee, examination fee and some other charges.

Faculty members are supportive and helping in nature. They strictly focus on courses you have taken and they also guide you to choose your elective subjects. Most of the teacher are down to earth and have strict nature. They teach us to solve a problem using multiple methods and also teach us with ways that will help us to solve a problem in comparatively less amount of time. This approach is of help to students when they give their exams. The teacher student ratio considering faculty advisors is 1 teacher per 7 to 8 students.

The placement cell at IIT Guwahati is Centre for Communication and Development (CCD). It helps students to get placed by its strong alumni network, strong bonding with other foreign Institutions and provide immense exposure and financial support for startups. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, and others come to our Institute every year for recruitment. The highest package is 2.5 Crores per annum. The average package is closer to 30 LPA for 2025 placements.

Yes, our Institute has around 10 boys’ hostels, and 2 girls’ hostels. There is also a hostel for married scholars.

The campus has 5 academic blocks side by side. The campus is spread on an area of about 700 acres. A classroom's general seating capacity is about 120 to 130 students. We have a central library, Physics & Chemistry labs, conference hall, and auditorium. The canteen opens from 10 AM and closes at 3 AM at night. The food in canteen is tasty. We also a hospital in our Institute.

IIT Guwahati has one of the most beautiful campuses all over India and it is located on the banks of river Brahmaputra. Here are clubs for almost every activity like Music, Dance, Cultural, Sports, Drama, Coding, AI & Robotics and various others. We celebrate a lot of festivals like Janmashtmi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Independence Day, and more.
