My Candid Views on IIT Guwahati

Overall Rating
It has been a year since I joined IIT Guwahati. I have a very good experience in this Institute. We didn’t get to join the clubs in the beginning but the Institute conducts several events. I can’t forget the mischief that I and my friends have done in the hostel throughout the year. I went for this Institute as the branch I chose aligned with my interests. The campus of this Institute is very beautiful as compared to other Institutes.
 

Academics Rating
The reason I chose this course because it’s a growing field in recent years. The Institute has various courses such as CSE, ME, etc. For admission in this Institute, you need to qualify JEE Advanced and score good rank in it. For my course the cutoff was around 2200 last year for general category students. The admission process takes place through JoSAA counseling and then offline registration at the Institute. The Institute conducts 2 quizzes, mid semester, and end semester exams. The courses of this Institute are up to date and according to the industrial requirements.
The fee for each semester is around Rs. 1,43,000/- including tuition, hostel fees, and other charges. The reduction in fee is available for SC/ST and EWS students. The scholarships are also available for financial week students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of our department is very well experienced. The teachers have done their education from top Universities. This reflects in their teaching style as well. The teachers expect a lot from the students as we are from IIT Guwahati. The teaching method include blackboard, PPTs, etc. The student to teacher ratio is approximately 18:1 which is very good. The faculty members are very helpful and approachable. The teachers clear our doubts whenever we have any.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, the Institute has placement cell. They teach us how to make resumes and how to give interviews through presentations. They also help in students in getting internships and job offers. Companies such as Google, Amazon, Meta, etc. visit our campus. The highest package offered last year was 2.5 Crore Per Annum and the average package was around 24 LPA. I haven’t got placed yet because I right now I am in my second year. I am not thinking much about the placement because I want to pursue my Masters.
 

Hostel Rating
The IIT Guwahati has 13 hostels. There are separate hostel for girls and the boys. The mess food is better as compared to other Institutes. The hostel rules are not that strict. My hostel experience is good because of the friends that I made in the hostel.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus size is around 700 acres full of lush green areas and forests. The academic section is actually huge and the classrooms are quite good. The campus has two lecture halls and sports facilities are available as well. My favorite thing about the campus is actually the entire campus because it’s so beautifully maintained.
 

Campus Rating
Overall the campus life is good. The crowd is less as compared to other Institutes. There are several clubs so if you are interested in Consulting or Finance, you can these clubs. The regular activities are also conducted by the clubs to keep the students engaged. There are basically 4 fests conducted every year such as Spirit, Techniche, Udgam, and Alchrianga.

    My experience with the Institute has been a chaotic and yet nice. The Institute is where one experiences a plethora of new activities, and gets to chat with passerby strangers like they were your next door neighbors and make unforgettable memories.     Overall experience for me in this Institute is quite good. Campus has lush greenery; you will feel the nature surrounding you with each step you take in the campus. I particularly choose IIT Guwahati because I am got my desired course at my rank in this Institute. But once I came to campus I was fully overwhelmed with campus infrastructure and size.
