IIT Guwahati B.Tech Highest Package is Around 2.05 Crore P.A

Overall experience for me in this Institute is quite good. Campus has lush greenery; you will feel the nature surrounding you with each step you take in the campus. I particularly choose IIT Guwahati because I am got my desired course at my rank in this Institute. But once I came to campus I was fully overwhelmed with campus infrastructure and size. It lies in the northeast region and it provides you an opportunity to explore a completely different culture of India. Personally, I feel very lucky to be at one of the most beautiful campus of India.

I am pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. The reason for me to enroll in this course is that I want to dive deep in the tech world; as you know, day by day new technologies are emerging and this field is getting more and more interesting. Entry requirements are based on the cutoff in JoSAA counseling process, so you can refer to the previous year cutoff to get an expected estimate. Admission process starts right after the JEE Advanced result announcement. Admission is done by JOSAA Rounds. Exams are very frequent in my course. On an average, you have exams in each month of the semester. This year the academic structure is updated considering the industrial changes.

The fee at this Institute is quite affordable and paid on a semester basis. Additionally, you can provide a income certificate if the overall income of your family is less than a particular amount, you will get concession in tuition fee. The fee that I pay is Rs. 1,00,000/- per semester. I got 2/3 tuition fee off from income certificate. There are many extra charges too but roughly it will take around Rs. 1,50,000/- per semester if you are not applying for concession.

The teaching professors are highly qualified. Also, you are provided with teachers assistants for one to one doubt clearance. Most of the professor use PPTs to explain the topics and then they provide you with a set of problems, which is then discussed in class by teacher’s assistants the next day. The teacher student ratio including the teachers’ assistants is around 1:30. Faculty members are easily approachable; you can take time slot from the faculty and meet them on the respective time in their offices. Also the problem set discussion is not done with slides; it is done with black boards. Professors also use the black board sometimes to explain the important topic.

Yes the placement cell is present to coordinate with the companies. It is the link between students and company personnel. This year the highest package from my department is around 2.05 Crore per annum and the average package of my department is around 25 LPA. Many internship related workshops and guiding sessions are held very frequently in campus. All the known firms like Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, etc. hire from campus. During placement season around 250+ companies visit the campus. I am in second year now and yet to be placed.

You have to stay in Institute hostel if you are a outstation student. The quality of hostel infrastructure depends on the hostel you are allotted with, the allotment is random at first but then you can change it, once approved by hostel affairs board. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. Mess food can be improved and the taste of food varies across different hostels. The fee of hostel is somewhat around Rs. 10,000/- and the mess is fee currently Rs. 22,000/- per semester. There are no rules for timings; you can go outside at any time. My hostel is average since the rooms that we are allotted with in this hostel are quite small for a 2 seater room.

The campus of the Institute is vast and is spread across 700+ acres of land. There are separate administration buildings, a big library, lecture hall complex. There are class rooms with variable occupancy like from 50 to 400. There are respective labs in the department building for each department, also there is an auditorium with a seating capacity of 2000+ and a mini auditorium is there too. Each hostel has its own canteen. Facilities for almost all kinds of sports are available. Also there is hospital inside campus; there is a regular service of government bus from campus to city. Buses leave time wise and are they are specially for the students of this Institute.

My campus life is better than I expected at IIT Guwahati. There are around 6000 to 7000 students in total. There are around 15 clubs in the campus; the major clubs are Coding, Consulting and Analytics, Electronics, Prakriti Club, Finance and Economics, Robotics Club, Areomodelling, Astronomy, etc. There are two major fests in the campus ‘Techniche’, the tech fest and ‘Alcheringa’, the cultural fest. There are more fests other than these but for these I like these two the most.
