Cochin University of Science and Technology is a government-owned university in Kochi, Kerala that is associated with science and technology. It was established in the year 1971. This university has achieved awards at the levels of doctoral, graduate, and postgraduate. It is highly popular and it is the only educational institution in Kerala among the 31 institutions that appeared in the rank list in the global survey. The admission process for both graduate and postgraduate courses is carried out on the basis of the Common Admission Test (CAT) or Departmental Admission Test or Lateral Entry Test. One can also submit the scores of MAT/CAT and GATE for getting admissions in MBA and M.Tech courses. The institution renders various graduate and postgraduate courses in the field of Science, Engineering, Humanities, Technology, Law & Management, and Humanities. It also has the option of exchange programs and academic links with certain other colleges around the world.

In CUSAT, I have completed my Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronics and Communication Engineering which is of 4 years, and the exams are divided into 8 semesters. The eligibility for joining this course is just to pass 12th or any equivalent degree in any stream of Science. The subjects which I selected for this course were Chemistry, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Data Structures, Hardware Design, Wave Progression, Analog Transmission, and many more. The subjects have to be selected semester-wise. The reason for joining this course was nothing but I selected Science stream in Physics for 12th. The subjects that I picked were all very helpful for me to understand this course and make my career ahead.

The faculty members were all amazing! Overall, there are 9 faculties in this college. My teachers were highly qualified with more than 10+ years of experience in teaching. They treat every student with a loving and friendly attitude. Besides, most of the teachers were qualified at the level of doctorates and M.Tech in their main subjects. We were also very friendly with our teachers and they were ever ready to clear our doubts related to the subject. They made us industry-oriented in learning and contributed well to pass our exams with good marks. There were great interactions between the students and teachers. The faculty members were even helpful while doing our lab practical. All the teachers teach us in their unique way so that every student can grab the subject very well. The teachers used to make different notes of the subject as the course curriculum was a bit irrelevant to make us industry-oriented.

The placement cell of our college is trying hard to place the students in leading companies. Every year, about 75% of the students are picked for placements in the top organizations with a minimum salary of Rs. 8,000 per month. There are some students who have even got Rs. 10 to 20 lakhs per annum salary package to the highest. The reputed companies that usually visit our campus are Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tata, Byjus, and so on. Our institution also offers internships and workshops to the students to boost teaching programs. The placement cell of our university gives a better hand for the students to reach their career point. Our seniors are very happy with their placements and they are very thankful to this university and its faculty members. From our batch, about 30% of the students are placed in different leading companies of this stream.

CUSAT also provides a hostel facility to the students with attached bathroom. Three students can stay in a room. Obviously, the hostels are separate for both boys and girls. The hostel fee is Rs. 500 per month for every student that should be paid with the semester fee. The bill of mess is separated with Rs.1200 per month. However, non-vegetarian food is not available. The other thing is that rooms are limited for boys in the hostel but it is filled with about 90% of girls. Interesting thing is that PGs are accessible for boys in the hostel but the fees range from Rs. 4000 to Rs. 6000 as per the demand of the owner. The food we get from the hostel is very hygienic and tasty hence we can have it with confidence. We have just a great time with our friends in our college hostel with lots of fun.

The environment of CUSAT is quite average. The whole college is standing on 180-acre land that comprises departments, the central library, the administrative office, school of engineering, workshops, labs, hostels, canteen, guest house, and playground. You can find a collection of 95,000 inclusive of various books like 92 foreign print journals, patents, doctoral theses, and more. The library is situated right on the top floor of the building. The institution also has a cafeteria that opens from 8 am to 8 pm on operating days including weekends. One can have a variety of North Indian and South Indian dishes in the café with meals at lunchtime at considerable rates. Not all classrooms, only computer labs have air conditioners with modern equipment. However, there are smart TVs and conventional boards for classrooms.

My campus life was great with various celebrations and fests. This college is a good blend of all the culture with good safety for girls and boys as well. One can have all the facilities near the college like stores, gym, tea stalls, etc. Furthermore, it offers an opportunity to the students to participate in distinct activities no matter if it is sports, fests, competitions, or any other celebrations. You can actually get satisfied with the enhanced natural beauty of the college with lots of trees. Sports club allows you to play several indoor sports such as badminton, etc. CUSAT in the state of Kerala offers you something unique experience as a whole.
