Mody University B.Sc Review By Yukta Singh Choudhary

Mody University is a leading women’s university which is providing majority of the different fields for all levels of degrees. The safety for women in the university is up to expectations and has a sense of secure environment. The campus is huge and is a lush green campus. The campus architecture and classification of the buildings gives a sense of beauty in itself. All the things are organized well. As a student of this university I would definitely recommend other girls to join in. The university aims at empowering girls in each and every department, may it be academics or extra-curricular. The admission procedure is simple yet lengthy and time consuming. There is no entrance tests conducted for undergraduate admissions. The eligibility criteria for different subjects are different but it is not less than 60% of marks in previous level of education.

I am a student of Mody University, currently opted for B.Sc. Biotechnology. There is a semester system in the university. The subjects differ according to the semester and therefore it gives a more comprehensive format to the academic calendar. There are several extra subjects that you can opt for with your compulsory subjects, according to your interest and abilities. The university provides a wide range of subjects such as fashion. Architecture, business and management, social works, political science, psychology, etc. The college also provides Ph. Ed. courses. There are 2 exams conducted in each semester, including internals and practical exams. The syllabus is not too long or too short for each semester. Extra-curricular activities are conducted on a regular basis, different departments have their own debates, workshops, celebration programs, other competitions, etc. Students are kept in touch with different skills based programs. There are several clubs related to different interests and activities whereby it helps in developing and strengthening the abilities of the students.

The faculty in the campus are very experienced and qualified. All the lecturers have their Ph. Eds in specialized subjects. All the faculties have the experience in teaching for about 4-5 years. Some of the lecturers have also published their books and research works from our university, which shows how much intellectual and high quality faculty is selected by the college management. There is a friendly environment in the campus where students are treated as their friends or children by their faculty members. They also provide guidance from time to time and help the below average students with extra classes in academics.

The placement procedure takes place in January month of the final year students. There are certain limitations to the placement department of the college because not every department has this option. Yet the department of management, fashion, engineering, architecture, law, etc. has their placement procedures taken up very strictly and numerous well-known companies and industries visit the college for placements. There are no such placements provided in my course but teachers do provide guidance related to the same. There are several international companies collaborating with the university. Some companies include, Amazon, Airtel, Infosys, Bosch, IBM, Genpact.

The hostel facilities provided by the university are up to date which satisfies the expectations of every student as well as the parents. The rooms are not too small not too big. There is ample amount of space inside the hostel to sit and move around. The washrooms are common cleanliness is maintained properly and the washrooms are cleaned every day. The hostel corridors and balconies are cleaned everyday too. The rooms are yet not cleaned every day because of tight schedule of college timings, we are not able to get our rooms cleaned by the maids every day, but rather than that the work done by the maids is also good. Each room has 2 students which is also systematically provided to them as per their year and course. There are two wings of each hostel which has 2 wardens and 2 sisters to help and resolve the student’s grievances related to the hostel or otherwise if possible. There is availability of a utensil washer area too where we can wash our utensils properly and no mess is created elsewhere. Both hot and cold milk is provided in the hostel twice a day, i.e., in morning and at night after dinner.

The campus area is spread in two hundred and sixty-five acres, which makes it a huge campus. The campus is totally covered with different types of flora and fauna. There are several buildings, all dedicated to a particular department of management, particular purpose. There are 2 college buildings, a school building, a mess, 2 cafeterias, a mess which is amongst the largest mess in India, many hostel buildings which include both college hostels and school hostels, several staff quarters are also made, 2 auditoriums of different parameters are established and are used according to the number of participants for the particular programs held. Different departments of different managements are constructed differently. As per the sports areas, there are 2 basketball courts, 2 football courts, a hockey ground, a horse riding ground, 2 tennis courts. The campus has well developed roads, well established street lights and navigation signs too.

The campus is located in a very wide area which provides an immense space for the students to walk around, exercise, enjoy the beauty of the campus, have fresh air, sit calmly, etc. The students roam around the campus and explore it as if it were a tourist spot because it is a huge campus. This provides the students the opportunity to cherish the environment and gives them a sense of saving our environment which is very important in today’s era. Also students meet each other belonging to different cultures, and parts of India which allows them to learn so many different things from each other, it develops a sense of belongingness and togetherness amongst the students which is one of the motives of the university.
