MET Institute of Management Review By Gaurav Karnany

MET Institute of Management may not be a huge name or a famous name but the in-depth knowledge that the institute provides is peerless. A large chunk of college shares are owned by politician Chagan Bhujbal and the institute is run under his guidance. Many prominent personalities from all walks of life came and gave guest lectures. Knowing about their journey and the skill required to excel is what was taught in those lectures. The MMS course is affiliated to Mumbai University and MH CET score plus the GD and PI process and then the final admissions. It was a lengthy process but MBA or equivalent course has the same drill. Luckily it isn't a residential program and the college is located in the lavish Bandra. The industry connects that the institute has helped us in getting the best internship and then the final placements. The PG program at MET is industry-related and the faculty helped us understand our professional strength. MET is a dedicated B-School and the success story of MET Alumni was one of the main reasons for me joining this institute.

MMS or all the programs offered by Met are industry-related courses and we were taught a lot of soft skills like strategic management, digital marketing, and other things. Some really helpful development programs were also a part of the academics. Communication skills, negotiating skills, and preparing contracts were all part of the study. Case studies and studying about business leaders were also a part of the curriculum. I had a great experience studying at MET as even though I spent some 10-12 hours in the institute daily, I never got bored.

All the faculty were previously working in some industries while some professors were still working and came to take lectures, post their working hours. Their job was to teach us industry-specific skills and which they did brilliantly. Their knowledge came in handy and also their sources as I shared a great camaraderie with one of my professors who was in the bank and he worked through thick and thin to get me a job there. The professors helped all the students and even though they had such a busy schedule, one was free to approach them at any point in time. The faculty was highly experienced and they gave us thorough training on all the skills that a business leader should have. I am glad, I spent 2 years of my life with some of the most intelligent people on the earth.

We had a range of companies that visited the campus throughout. Many companies have beforehand collaborated with MET and they took the entire batch of ours. Thus, the placement was 100% and companies like Standard Chartered, ABN Amro, Ceat, Thomas Cook, and BA Continuum Solutions were among some of them who were more than happy in giving us a role in their organizations. The average salary offered was 8-9 lakhs and mind you the average is much better than many so-called best B-Schools of Mumbai.

The college doesn’t have a hostel facility and students who are outsiders have to shed nearly 50k a month to rent a small apartment in the college area. Thus, if you are not from Mumbai, you will have to search out options yourself. There are many private hostels in Bandra which are cheaper as well. A rented apartment or PG will cost you a bare minimum of 15-20k.

A tall glass building that has state-of-the-art facilities. All the classrooms are air-conditioned and facilitated with LED and projectors. E-library that docs thousands of books, journals, and magazines. The college interiors are smart and classy. All the guest lectures were conducted in the beautiful convention center located on the second floor. All the debates and discussions were held at the conference rooms which were again nicely built and had some of the best interiors I have ever seen. The computer lab even though small were equipped with all the latest computers and software that made submissions easy. The canteen was huge and great as I never stepped out for lunch because the menu was appetizing. There’s also a recreation room with table tennis tables and other indoor sports that helped us unwind after a long day at the college. The college understands how important it is to unwind and therefore the MWM (MET World of Music) room has been made where we used to go and relax with music on and headphones over our head. All in all the facilities at MET were ultra-modern.

MET is a glimpse of how the lifestyle of Mumbai is. All rich people’s kids come and study at the college and you can see the kind of cars that are parked at the parking. MET’s alumni base is also quite strong and they were called upon every now and then. This was just to make us realize that MET students have reached the top and if we could take some learning from them. The college also promoted many social campaigns and save the girl child was one such campaign when all the MET students posted the hoardings at various suburbs of Mumbai. All these were a part of the curriculum and every damn project we did had a purpose behind that. Infusing new skills and making us industry-ready was the only motive of the institute. MET was a life-changing experience and hopefully, I will be invited someday by the institute as an alumni of the college.
