Most of the B-Schools in India has been started with a motive of making profits but MET is exceptional. The fees is high but it all accounted for the kind of facilities and the opportunities that are provided at MET Institute of Management. MMS which I heard for the first time that a course like this even exists was the one I took admission in. The college is ranked among the top 30 B-schools and is ranked higher for many reasons. One of them has to be the kind of opportunities that are provided. Industrial visit and training by professionals were new for most of us as 90% of the students came directly after their graduation while 10% had a work-ex behind their back. Their help was a thankless job because they supported us and also guided us on which industry to choose and what skill set are required for certain industries. Even though I was an outsider I never felt so as the students or the faculty were not intimidating at all. They were all so welcoming that 2 years gone away without even getting a complete feel. Due to Covid, the final semester was stopped and the remaining classes happened online and we had a nice 4 months break because Mumbai University made sure that PG students will have to appear for the exams.

If this could be explained in words than there’s nothing that can’t be explained. A modern and unique way of teaching that was so intimidating for a small towner that I had sleepless nights initially. Every day we had some projects assigned and getting them done in the thick of times was challenging. The institute made sure that we are ready for the challenge because the outside world is double the challenging and if we fail here we can never deliver where it will matter the most. Studies were more or less a combination of some theory lectures, guest lectures, industrial visits, and some live projects as well.

The faculty was certainly from a different planet because some of them took classes taking a break from their jobs. They already did a job for 6-8 hours and then came and took the lectures with full power was so heartening to see. The faculty has made this college a brand and count on me on this that if you are from this college or willing to join this college please make sure you share good terms with the faculty members as they play a vital role in your placements.

Luckily our placements were done before the Covid scare arrived. We were supposed to join in June but that happened after September but nonetheless, it happened is more important. I haven’t been to my office to date and still working from home but the job that I have is all because of MET. All the sectors companies were present and faculty members too were from different industrial backgrounds. I saw Roti, Kapda, aur Makaan some 15 years back and decided then that I will be working with one of these companies. Reality or Textile sector company’s options were not provided and therefore I decided to be a part of FMCG Company. Luckily I appeared before 8-10 companies and the top among them HUL were quite happy with my profile as my family business is also related to the same sector. I was gutted at once but was equally happy the next moment after the offer letter arrived 10 days after my placement interview. Almost all of us got placed and that too in the choice of sectors we wanted to. Students of engineering background had the option of serving in an IT company.

The institute has stayed away from this part but finding a home in Mumbai is not that difficult. All you need is a huge budget because in areas close to the college a 2bhk flat rent won’t be less than 50-60k.

A building that boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure is what MET is all about. I will begin with classrooms as it was for the first time in my life, I saw such classrooms that had audiovisual provision. Not just the classrooms but the convention center and the seminar hall too had all such facilities. Secondly, all the rooms are air-conditioned and getting out of the college in Mumbai humid climate felt such a pain that I mostly avoided going out during college hours. The entire ambiance of the college gave us a corporate feeling. The most used and the best part of the building was the super-built convention center where all the management workshops and guest seminars took place. Needless to say that the entire campus was Wi-Fi enabled. Lastly, the canteen as the students from Mumbai brought their food from home but for outsiders like us, Canteen was a savior.

Sitting with people of Mumbai and learning about their approach was not new for me as my elder brother and many friends from my city stay in Mumbai. So I was aware of the kind of lifestyle and how people approach life over here. One thing that took me by surprise was that the ratio of girls and boys was almost equal. The recreation room and the MET’s music room were our relaxing points. The college used to get over by 6 pm and I along with my friends chat never got over as used to find a spot near the college and continue our chats there.
