LJ Institute of Engineering and Technology B.Tech Review By Jignesh Baldaniya

LJ Institute of Engineering and Technology is an autonomous college and one of the best for IT. The institute is AICTE approved and LJ has started many new colleges off late but LJIET still remains at the top of the ladder. There are 7 streams of engineering and each stream has an intake of 120 students. Many students are through management quota and from what I have heard it costs around 6-7 lakhs to get a management quota seat in this college. One word sums up the entire review and that is satisfactory. From all the review sections like academics, faculty, placements, and all, every aspect of the college is satisfactory. The hostel is missing as it should have been there. The college was still under GTU when I enrolled and therefore the syllabus can be rated as a little outdated because GTU hasn’t revised its syllabus in the last 3 years. From 2021, it will be out of GTU and the management might think of updating the syllabus as it is badly needed. The clubs and the student’s participation in all the events and activities never go unnoticed. Students were given a widespread knowledge of all aspects of life at LJIET.

LJ College of Engineering college timings need big thumbs up as the college started at 8 am and by 1.45 pm we were done. There was a break in between for 20 minutes and that was all that we had. It never felt tiring though because it felt like we had the entire day in front of us once the classes were over. The internship program of the college was one of the best as the college has its sources and therefore students of this college are always placed at the best companies. Not just in Ahmedabad but as a student of the IT department students of our stream were sent to Mumbai and Pune.

LJ Engineering college has a top-class faculty and all thanks to the management as students have their rights against them. The management has set very strict criteria for the hiring of faculty. The faculty on the other hand is so kind towards students. One can ask as many doubts, he/she wants. One faculty per subject is the way at LJ. All the faculties had a hoard of teaching experience behind their back and the degrees to back their knowledge of the subjects. The teacher-student relation is not limited to the classroom as one can approach them after college and they will stay back at the college to help you with your query.

LJIET Placements are good as the relevant companies were there to see that knowledge and talent we possess. It has become a notion where an IT company will come and hire a mechanical engineer or a construction company will join hands with an IT student. No there was no such nonsense at LJ as students were only allowed to interview for the relevant field companies. For the IT department Wipro, Redington India, L&T Infotech, and Infosys were the top recruiters. The average placements in terms of ROI were poor because a package of 4-5 lakhs was not up to the mark. The placement rate was on the higher side as almost all the students who applied for the job were selected.

The college doesn’t have its own hostel and this is poor from the college. The huge strength of the college is made from the outsiders and still not having a hostel was not acceptable. Ahmedabad is reasonable in terms of housing and there are certain student areas near the S. G. Highway where the college is located so one can find an appropriate place near the college.

The college is big and there are 8 buildings inside the campus. All departments have their own building and 3 buildings for Diploma course is also there at the campus. The classrooms are big but in 2018 not having modern benches needs some attention. The college library was big and one can find any book of their choice at the library. The auditorium of the college is huge as the strength of the college is also huge. The open-air theater is the biggest highlight of the campus. It was used for occasions and was one of the best you will see. There are 3 canteens or café. One is a normal canteen serving thali. One is a Chinese corner and the third one is a snack bar that serves beverages and light snacks. The campus has a stationery shop and Xerox facility is also inside the campus. The college has basketball & volleyball courts. There is also an open ground at the college that was used for playing cricket by the students.

LJ has a top crowd and one can see students flaunting fashion and the latest gadgets. The crowd was also lively as all the events, festivals and all made everyone jump up the sofas. The college’s drama club Lamhe was active throughout the year. Likewise, there were many other clubs and their activities made us stay at the college till late evening. Students were not allowed to stay at the campus after 6 pm in the evening on regular days.
